Murcia and Cartagena
Murcia city has a centre with the cathedral and a lively tapas scene; Cartagena combines a Roman theatre, Modernist buildings and a harbour. Both work as bases and are less than an hour from the coast.
The Mar Menor and the coast
The Mar Menor lagoon, with La Manga and Los Alcázares, has warm, shallow water that is good for families. Águilas, Mazarrón and Calblanque have coves and more natural beaches. There are plenty of apartments and golf resorts.
Inland
