    Cosy Place

Liked: Getting at the the front door was a bit tricky, because you have to fill out online registration before you get the code to enter... there is no reception! But ok, you should really do this before... then everything fis fine... the living room is very cosy... and we had good and long talks with fine people there.

Disliked: A lot of steps going up

Lovely hostel in the heart of town

Liked: It's right on the main street, the 3rd floor with lift, just near the Cathedral, in a beautiful old classic building. There's a small sitting/dining room and little balconies, and a kitchen with a bit of tea for guests. I like that there's a digital door opening mechanism, for me easier than an Internet access system.

Disliked: There's no one at reception, which is rather impersonal. Having said that, online Sofia was very helpful. It would be nice to have towels provided. A toaster and electric water kettle would be helpful as well.

Disliked: The reception is unmanned after 3pm, and so we had two homeless people squatting in the hostel last night. I contacted the owner, and instead of coming out herself to remove the (potentially violent) intruders/manage the situation, she asked me to confront them. She first asked me to hand one of them my phone so she could speak to him - I refused as they would know I reported them, and my personal property would be in his hands. She then suggested calling the police, and if I could manage the situation when they arrived by pointing them out. Absolute joke. She thanked me for informing her of this serious breach of security, but refunding me a mere 14 euros for my ruined night was apparently out of the question. She said she will be changing the entrance code, but unless a member of staff attends every evening to check who's there, it will definitely happen again. I strongly advise you stay elsewhere in Leon. Buen Camino!!
