  Liked: Beautiful marble and wood everywhere. Large rooms with comfortable beds

  Ideal visit base

  Liked: Large room with comfortable beds and pillows. Lots of cloth storage. Very good breakfast buffet in pleasant solarium. Great location easy to walk to all historic areas of old city. Good lift access to rooms

  Liked: The rooms are huge and smart in a classy, traditional style. The bed was very comfortable; curtains blackout. Cleanliness was excellent. The rooftop bar is nice outside (they don't seem to do mood lighting or ambience indoors but that is not uncommon in Spain or China). I asked to move to a quiet room away from the front and the road. The lady in Reception gave me their quietest room - it was silent. Staff in general were great. It is a 10 minute easy walk to the Plaza Mayor and 10 minutes to the station. I liked it.

  Disliked: The gym. It has terrible equipment and for some arcane reason is dominated by an empty hot-tub and suspect looking shower. Just weird. The weights, all of them added together, weigh 12kg. There are no free weights suitable for anyone over five. The rowing machines are tragic. The floor is marble. It is not a gym; it is a room with some low-grade mail-order equipment in so that the 'gym' box can be ticked.

  Elegant, comfortable hotel very close to the historic part of town. Having parking was great

  Liked: The room was beautiful, and the breakfast was excellent.

  Disliked: I would have liked two cartons of water instead of the bottles in the fridge.
