Fabulous
Interesting property in a good location with inconsistent service
Liked: The morning service was exceptional with the breakfast. The service team worked well together to bring coffee and special orders and make sure we were comfortable. They were welcoming and attentive. When I reported the battery in my remote control was dead, it was quickly replaced within 20 minutes. The hotel is interesting and provides a great atmosphere with a great location.
Disliked: The evening service was less consistent with opening the door when we arrived and no greeting. There was limited or no help with baggage in the small stair case. Service in the bar area for a drink or cocktail in the evening was not offered or encouraged. It almost felt like we were an inconvenience. The daily service in the room was inconsistent. While the bed was made every day during our three day stay, one day the soap and shampoo was filled and fresh towels and coffee, and the next day the bed was made but the trash wasn't removed and no coffee. It wasn't a problem but the higher level of service we were expecting wasn't consistent.
Magical setting
Liked: The historical interiors were magical. The Lobby Lounge and our room were exactly the step back in time that we were looking for but with modern amenities and great bed + pillows.
Disliked: I wish the Lobby was a bit more active although I know we were a bit off season so that might have caused. I also wish the pool was more heated as it would have been a perfect way to warm up on our cold, rainy day walking the city.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Abbaye de Maizières
Liked: Convenient central location, comfortable and spacious room, interesting bathroom, great amenities including bathrobe, slippers and coffee machine and small frig in the room. We even enjoyed the challenge of the circular stairs - counted it as part of our daily exercise program. Breakfast was great. Nearby street parking also worked for us.
Disliked: That we couldn't stay longer
Liked: Location.
Disliked: Coffee...not the French way. Cups do not hold the heat. Too many stairs from the 3rd floor to the lower floor...replace the carpet on the stairs for this steep staircase.

Liked: A beautiful historical hotel in the centre of Beaune. Very well furnished bedrooms with very comfy beds and Clarins toiletries! Lovely breakfast and excellent service.
Amazing historic hotel, but unbearably hot!
Liked: Hôtel Abbaye de Maizières is a really special hotel. The location is fantastic, the building is beautiful and historic, and it’s full of quirky little features that give it loads of character. The staff were also genuinely friendly and welcoming. They are welcoming to dogs too. Our bed was very comfortable and the bathroom, while very historic in style, was lovely. Unfortunately, the heat in the room completely ruined the experience for us. It was honestly the hottest hotel room we have ever stayed in and none of us (we had 2 rooms) slept at all. There was an old air-conditioning unit, but it was almost useless, and the fan in the room was broken. Such a shame, because everything else about the hotel was excellent and we really wanted to love it. With effective air conditioning, this could easily have been a 5-star stay.
