Fabulous
Great place, strategic position and very good value
Liked: We spent nearly a week in this nice family-managed hotel, quite strategically located outside the village of S.te Maries de la mere (which is only a 5 minutes drive), along the main road that leads to all the places to visit in Camargue. A number of parking spaces are always available free of charge in the private area and just outside the rooms. Cosy rooms with a nice little terrace, opened on the common swimming pool, where sunbed and umbrellas are always available. The swimming pool provides great relief from the summer heat. A great breakfast is served in the morning. Personnel is kind and helpful. All in all, a great value for money and a lovely place to live the Camargue at its best.
Disliked: I did not like the mattress, but I understand it is a subjective matter. Everything else was beautiful and enjoyable.
aggressive, screaming host
Disliked: We had a room (#1) that was swarming with ant trails. We understand that the property is located in a natural setting. But as the owner, you should know where the bats live in the house, and that the terrace is half-covered with bat droppings in the morning—which also serves as food for the ants. The ants also love to explore the entire room and the bed. One of the ant trails ends at the electrical outlet, the other at the bed. We had brought some food for our 6-year-old, which was a mistake, since the room—without a refrigerator—is poorly suited for storing children’s food. In the morning, the place was swarming with ants. When we asked to be given a free breakfast because our son couldn’t eat his yogurt and cheese, the manager lost his temper; he lectured us loudly and uncontrollably, insisting that we had behaved improperly, that everything was in order, and that we were just stupid guests who didn’t speak French. We’ve never experienced anything like this before: an aggressive, screaming host. In the hospitality industry, one should know how to deal with guests who calmly point out issues and ask factual questions. The administrators of this property do not know how. So we had to pay. Hard to recommend.
4 days in the Carmargue
Liked: The swimming pool is a great feature of the hotel, the rooms are clean and easily accessible. Fresh towels are provided daily and a bed making service. Breakfast is optional and there's free parking close to the rooms. Location is very close to the orthonolgical park and 5 mins drive from Ste Marie. Very relaxing outdoor space, I would return if I visited the areas again.
Disliked: Small things...The hotel charges14 euros a day for a fridge in the room which we felt was needed as there's nowhere to buy drinks etc after 8p.m. The reception is also closed after breakfast until 3p.m. There was no kettle to make drinks in the room but it was provided quickly on request.
It was a wonderful stay
Liked: Beautiful setting.. Very comfortable..
Disliked: As a w
