  Comfortable, well-located base in Agrigento

  Liked: From the street, you reach the front door by a flight of historic stairs between the tobacconist and the real estate agency. Silvestre, the owner, came out (on his son's birthday) to quickly meet us and show us around instead of the standard 'key lock procedure' only. Very welcoming! Our room was at the front of the property and had all the creature comforts: wifi, TV and air conditioning. It was a good size, clean and comfortable. Breakfast, which was included, was served in the bar downstairs. Parking tip: about 150–200 metres further up the street, the paid and time-limited parking ends and you can park for free 24/7. The location is good. The famous Via Atenea is a few minutes’ walk away. So is Villa Bonfiglio, a park with great sunset views over the Valley of the Temples and lots of restaurants nearby. This part of town is very close to the station. As in many station areas, you might see the odd shady character at night, but nothing that made us feel unsafe. Lots of little convenience shops as well.

  Disliked: Nothing we disliked. Like many historic Italian buildings, this one has stairs, which we think adds to its charm. Guests with limited mobility or heavy luggage may find them hard work without help, though.

  I was comfortable and safe

  Liked: La posizione e la pulizia di camera e bagno! Inoltre menzione speciale alla disponibilità del proprietario e dei suoi consigli per godersi Agrigento al meglio. Abbiamo visitato la valle dei templi di sera dopo il tramonto se non fosse stato per lui saremmo andati la mattina seguente sotto il sole cocente.

  Very good stay in Agrigento with a very friendly host
