  Casual beach chic with exceptional location and rooftop view, just needs a few tweaks

  Liked: 1. The host met us at a nearby parking area and helped us with our luggage all the way up the stairs to the apartment. He even rode with the men in our group to the secure long-term parking area so they wouldn't have to search for it on their own. 2. The location is simply stellar--exactly where you want to be in Otranto. Two minutes from the walk along the sea and right in the middle of the best shopping and restaurant areas. 3. The view from the rooftop terrace is beautiful during the day and at night over the water. 4. The apartment was very clean and the bath products were excellent. 5. A welcome box of treats and cold beverages in the fridge was lovely.

  Disliked: 1. The living room seating was not functional for our 4 adults (2 couples). One booking.com photo showed an orange sofa (removed from the listing since this review was posted), so we expected that. Instead, separate, bean-bag-style "chairs" pushed together on the floor are so low the shorter women needed help getting out of them, and the men found them unusable. Utilizing them as a sofa was not possible as they separated into pieces. When we gathered together to visit, we had to sit on the metal dining chairs as the living room just wasn't functional for us. Others have noted this, yet it has not been addressed. 2. The lighting in the shared living/dining area is minimal and dim. With no windows, the only natural light comes from a single door going outside to the first small terrace. Through this door, you see only the patio wall and some sky, making the space feel more closed in. We had rainy weather while we were there, so we utilized this indoor space more than some might. 3. There is no plan for unexpected power outages. When we lost power during a thunderstorm shortly after our evening arrival, we reached out to the host to ask about flashlights or candles, and he said we'd need to use our mobile phones (which were not fully charged after a long day of travel) until power was restored. When we noticed that neighbors had power, and there was power in the hallway between apartments, we reached out again asking to access the fuse box (we ultimately had to flip a breaker). We had to initiate this remedy; we did not sense an urgency from the host to resolve it. Functioning in the dark in this apartment with its steep stairs via a cell phone light would be dangerous. 4. One entire wall of each bedroom (which are side by side) is semi-opaque glass, letting in light from the hallway and upstairs via the open stairway.

  Liked: It was an exceptional stay at Dimora del Sole. Angelo the host was incredibly helpful from before we arrived until the end of our stay. He communicated very clearly with us via WhatsApp, he gave us so many recommendations for restaurants, places to see and things to do. He met us at the car park and helped us transport our bags through the old town - a 3 minute walk - and he carried my daughters' bags up the stairs. He responded very quickly to a couple of requests and queries during the stay and was very helpful throughout. Nothing was too much trouble - thank you Angelo The accommodation itself was excellent. The location is amazing, right in the heart of the old town, with an amazing roof terrace and view of the whole town and bay. It's also a one minute walk to the beach and we went swimming every morning. The accommodation is really well furnished and very well supplied with so many glasses, crockery and everything you need - there was more than enough. The whole place was clean and well appointed. Angelo also provided a small food and drink gift pack on arrival, there were bottles of water in the fridge and a huge pot of coffee pods for the coffee machine. This was the best accommodation and stay we've experienced - try to book this if you can, it's exceptional!

  Liked: We had a wonderful stay at this apartment in Otranto. The location couldn't have been better, right in the heart of everything, yet quiet inside. Angelo was a wonderful host and greeted us with thoughtful welcome gifts, including water, juice, wine, and plenty of coffee. The apartment was spacious and very comfortable for our family of four with two young children. The beds were comfortable, the washing machine was incredibly useful during our trip, and the balcony offered a beautiful view. We had a car and the walk to the parking lot Angelo recommended was under 10 minutes and the lot attendants were helpful and saved us a shaded spot to return to each evening. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Otranto.

  I would stay again- but would organize my luggage so I dont have to carry it for more than 5 blocks up hill

  Liked: The decoration, the terrace, being closed to everything. The Host was super and left us a box with olive oil, champagne and other delicatessens

  Disliked: Its not that I didnt like, but would be better to know in advance how much you have to walk with luggage since you cannot access by car.
