Most exceptional hotel I ever been to

Liked: Hotel Rector Review 16 -18 Oct 2026 karma from the UK We had the most incredible stay at the Hotel Rector in Salamanca. The hotel is really well-located, a 5-10 minute walk from all the main sights as well as the Art Deco and Automobile museums (which are across the road). The hotel itself is beautiful with lovely art and antique furniture, the hotel room and bathroom beauifullly decorated and spacious and most importantly, the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom had a bathtub as well as a separate shower area, with a large overhead power shower which was great. Ordering room service was a joy with silver cloche covered plates, rolled in on a white clothed table. The food is homecoming and certainly good tasting. Now the part that really sets the hotel apart: The most exceptional attention to detail, antique objects of exquisite taste and greatest customer service. The moment we stepped in, Adriana greeted us warmly at the door and helped carry our luggage. The hotel must have been told that it was my birthday because there a bottle of champagne on ice and orchids waiting for us in the hotel room, with snacks and the instruction that everything in the mini bar was free! The incredible blond lady from housekeeping happened to be outside, and didn’t just help us open the champagne bottle but poured it into the flutes and then ran out to get us a champagne stopper so that the champagne would stay fizzy! (Without being asked). That evening when we came back from exploring Salamanca, there was a lovely hand written note on the bed and my clothes had been folded. This was done the following night too, with chocolate covered almonds left for us in the room. Ignacio the manager, made sure we wanted for nothing during our stay and would show us into the breakfast room each morning, ensuring everything went smoothly and our cooked breakfast and coffee orders was taken. This is an incredibly magical and special place.Highly recommende

Disliked: Loved everything. want to go back when possible.

Liked: The property was beautiful and the location was fantastic. From the moment we arrived we were treated so well. They helped us in every aspect of our stay. From sights to visit, the welcome basket in our room, helping us park on the street behind the hotel to making us feel so special.

It’s as good as a cozy, familial hotel can be

    Liked: Nothing to be improved

Disliked: Salamanca is an ups and downs town and the hotel is at the very down. Visiting the city is an uphill experience.

Poor value for money; intrusive staff

Liked: Quiet location close to all the attractions.

Disliked: We had a tiny room with an old bathroom and a leaky shower. The breakfast was very bad (no hot buffet, everything was old and dried up.) The staff members did not respect guests' privacy and constantly tried to sneak into our room. They also tried to perform services that we did not request. Overall, it was a frustrating stay. They price of this hotel was absolutely not justified.
