worst Booking.com/appartment experience so far
Liked: The agency's contact person behaved correctly, did what he could within his means, was understanding, refunded us in full, and said the issue would be dealt with. Also made a personal effort to remediate the misleading key handover terms (read all the text and timelines).
Disliked: Bed bugs - do not book: Avoid this apartment! On our first night, we ran into bed bugs: I was attacked within five minutes of lying down, caught two of them on the sheets as evidence, and shortly after found another one crawling along the wall towards my daughter in the other bedroom, so they are all over the place. After midnight in Santander we couldn't find another hotel, so the whole family spent the night on the living room floor. Bed bugs spread fast, and clearing an infestation properly takes weeks — so this place should be off-limits for a good while. Apart from that, the flat sits in a very old building: steep stairs, uneven floors, low doorways, worn furnishings and a kitchen without dishes (glasses only). It's also noisy — you hear neighbours well past midnight, almost unfiltered. "Retro charm" here mostly means old. Poor value for the price. Fair is fair: The agency's contact person behaved correctly, did what he could within his means, was understanding, refunded us in full, and said the issue would be dealt with.
Short stay in Santander
Liked: Super apartment - very tidy and compact.
Liked: Modern spacious appt with good facilities.
Disliked: We arrived by car and the parking was very difficult. I had to pay €22 to park privately. Public oarking is available, but you need to pay between 1000h and 1400h and 1600h and 2000h. And the parking isoaces are at a premium So not great if you're driving.
Liked: It was clean, spacious and in an excellent location.
Good in general- would have been better if they answered and let me know about the place swap
Liked: Hard to write the review about this apartment as I got a different one. Much bigger for my needs- 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms just for myself, it was ok but not as cosy as the one that I booked.
Disliked: Difficult contact with the reception, it was stressful as I was arriving late at night. I had to text them few times and call them to get a response at all. In the end they gave me a different apartment than I booked, only found out when I arrived. The man checking me in was very nice- Pedro. Looked like he was just making someone a favour to check me in. Anyway, his charisma made me feel welcomed. But they should let me know about the change before I got there.
Liked: A very well sized little flat in a convenient location. Had everything needed, it was perfect for our stay in Santander
