Absolutely No Positives – A Terrible Hotel Experience
Liked: There is absolutely nothing positive I can say about this hotel. Our stay was extremely disappointing, and I would never book this place again.
Disliked: 1. Unfriendly reception and no English spoken Upon arrival, we were greeted by a woman at reception who spoke exclusively Spanish. She did not speak a single word of English and explained everything in Spanish, despite it being obvious that we did not understand the language. 2. Terrible room location, no ventilation and no natural light We were given a room with a view directly into an internal courtyard, facing other people’s windows. The courtyard floor was covered in pigeon feathers. Opening the window fully was not an option, as someone from the opposite windows could potentially access our room by simply crossing the narrow courtyard. This made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe. The room was also extremely dark. We could barely tell what the weather was like outside. Since the room was on the ground floor, inside a long building with virtually no airflow, the ventilation was practically nonexistent. It was incredibly stuffy and difficult to breathe. At night, we could also hear pigeons constantly cooing outside. 3. Strong sewage smell coming from the bathroom There was a strong sewage smell coming from the bathroom. This is an important detail: we did not notice the smell immediately upon entering the room. Initially, we only noticed how stuffy it was. However, after spending several minutes in the room and unpacking all our belongings, we realised that, in addition to the lack of ventilation, there was also a persistent sewage smell. 4. Refusal to change our room despite the unacceptable conditions We went downstairs to reception to explain the situation and request a room change. In any normal hotel, a room with virtually no ventilation, a strong sewage smell, and such uncomfortable conditions would be a perfectly reasonable reason to request another room. We had also checked Booking.com and noticed that several other rooms in the same category were still available.
Recommended
Liked: Superb location, just a few minutes from the train station, bus station, and a short walk into town. Friendly, welcoming reception staff - it felt very safe and secure. Excellent value for money. Fully recommended as a 'no frills' option for those travelling and/or looking for a base to explore the city.
Disliked: Decor a little tired, room very small, in need of refurbishment (particularly in the bathroom). However - all exactly as advertised - overall excellent value for money, and really hard to criticise for the price point.

Fantastic
Liked: Everything, it’s more like maybe 4 star rather than a 2 star. Breakfast is good and is in a cafe connected to the hotel with plenty options to choose from Location is less than 10 min walk away
Disliked: Nothing to dislike
