Disliked: Very disappointing – we did not get the room we booked the hotel for We booked a more expensive room specifically for the sea view. The sea view was the only reason we chose this hotel in the first place. However, on the day of our arrival, we were informed that our booked room was no longer available. Instead, the hotel offered us what they described as an "upgrade" to a larger suite. In reality, it was anything but an upgrade. The apartment was not even located inside the main hotel building. Instead, it had a separate entrance directly from a noisy, dark side street, next to a restaurant. The surroundings felt unpleasant and unsafe, and the apartment itself felt more like a basement flat than a quality hotel room. A staff member showed us into the apartment and left. Almost immediately, an extremely loud alarm started going off. We walked straight back to reception to ask the staff to turn off the alarm, which continued to sound. At the same time, we made it clear that we did not want to stay in that apartment and requested a standard hotel room instead, along with financial compensation. We were eventually given a standard hotel room without a sea view. However, obtaining financial compensation required several messages and repeated requests. The hotel justified its original offer by pointing out that the apartment was larger and had a kitchen. But we had not booked an apartment with a kitchen. We had booked a hotel room with a sea view. The sea view was the main reason we chose this hotel, so it was very disappointing not to receive what we had booked and paid extra for. Reaching an agreement on compensation required several rounds of back-and-forth communication with the hotel, and I do not feel that the compensation we eventually received was sufficient given the inconvenience and disappointment caus Overall, a very disappointing experience.
