Vieux Nice
The old town has holiday apartments in old buildings and small, charming hotels. You are next to the Cours Saleya, Castle Hill and the beach, although the streets are busy at night and in summer it is worth looking for somewhere quiet.
Promenade des Anglais and Carré d’Or
Facing the bay are the grand classic hotels and many places with sea views. The Carré d’Or, just behind, has mid-range and upmarket hotels, shops and restaurants, a few minutes’ walk from Place Masséna and the old town.
Station and Jean-Médecin
Around Nice-Ville station and Avenue Jean-Médecin there are many practical, moderately priced hotels. It is the best-connected area, with the tram to the airport and trains to Monaco, Antibes and Cannes. Some streets by the station are less pleasant at night.
Port and Cimiez
The port district offers small hotels and apartments with more local atmosphere, close to Castle Hill. On Cimiez hill, greener and more residential, there are old villas and quiet places to stay near the Matisse and Chagall museums, a bus ride from the centre.
