  Traditional Italian Villa with magnificent lake views

  Liked: The Villa was in a super location, easy walking distance to train station, ferry port and restaurants. It is a lovely Villa with magnificent views overlooking Lake Como with privacy at a premium. The owner Giorgio was a super host and made our stay unforgettable, from picking us up from the train station, to a guided tour of Varenna to supplying us with a bottle of his very own Italian wine. It was obvious that Giorgio was very proud of his lovely town and was extremely keen for us to experience how truly wonderful it really is. Lake Como is certainly amongst one of the most beautiful locations we have ever visited and will remain as a very special place in our memories.

  A great location for a relaxing and scenic vacation

  Liked: The apartment was clean and spacious, and the location was unbeatable! The Casa Garden has a beautiful garden area and veranda overlooking Lake Como. Alberto met us after a short walk from the train and provided us with the keys and an introduction to the apartment. Alberto was also very responsive if we had questions during our stay. Alberto, thank you!

  Disliked: Varenna is a gem of a city and as a result, it was super crowded, especially on the day we arrived which was Saturday. This is obviously not the problem of Casa Garden, which provided a nice environment away from the crowds.

  Some of the most beautiful views you will find attached to a basic apartment

  Liked: The location of this apartment is perfect with an outstanding terrace and view of the lake--much more impressive than in the pictures or description (see my pictures). It's truly stunning any time of the day. You will have a hard time beating this view because the terrace extends to a garden and includes a large arc of the lake. However, the terrace is oddly under-furnished with only a couple of benches--no table for a drink or patio furniture. Still, the location is so quiet even though it is close to the lively piazza, you probably won't care that you just have a bench to sit on. It is also an easy and beautiful walk to the ferry. However, do know that the actual apartment is basic and needs some work. The internet connection was poor and we needed to restart the router daily. Only one person at a time could be on the wifi--sometimes a second person couldn't even load email. This is important to know if you have any important work to do online.

  Disliked: Besides the poor internet connection, the shower doors have a gap so there will be a fair amount of water on the floor every time someone uses it. Thankfully, there were ample towels to help with that. The comfort of the beds could be improved. Also, be aware that there is no dishwasher or oven, although those were listed in the description. All that being said, know that you are paying for the amazing location and incredible views. You will probably be out and about and not need the apartment much.

  Great stay in this historic property which is now in need of a refresh

  Liked: Great location. Overall size. Welcome from host. It was also clean with a comfortable bed. The air conditioning worked very well.

  Disliked: The apartment itself is rather tired and could do with a refresh. The price charged is rather high for the internal state of the apartment. There is no garden furniture on the terrace overlooking the water as pictured. Just one garden bench for two people.

  We had an amazing time, love the location near the square and wow what views

  Liked: The location was fabulous, great shower, fabulous terrace and access to the sea and a great side gate with easy access down a gentler slope than the very steep steps.

  Disliked: could do with a bit of love and attention and a new bed mattress
