  Good base

  Liked: Basic room. Nothing to like or dislike. Good location if you don't mind a few minutes extra walk but a quieter location.

  Disliked: The link to the online check-in was removed on the booking.com message. So when we arrived, we couldn't check in.

  Lovely time in La Maddalena

  Liked: Lovely owner Francesca, a fridge in the room and a kitchen to use and some breakfast options. La Maddalena is beautiful and so are its inhabitants

  Disliked: Being on the ground floor it was a little noisy when people came in, when they were walking around above you and when they were in the kitchen.

  Wonderful 👌🏼

  Liked: We loved everything about our stay here. Meeting Francesca made it even more special. She is the most kind and hospitable lady who really took care of us when we needed extra things like plasters and advice! The location is superb an easy enough distance to and from the ferry and bus stops, yet remote enough to feel you’re in a truly authentic part of town and it’s so peaceful. We went in excursions, but really loved Tegge Beach which was less than half an hour walk away. Despite it being a guest house and not a B and B there were breakfast snacks available plus great coffee and tea. Our room was spotless - very fresh and stylish and comfortable. It inspired us to buy some interior pieces from the area too! Thank you so much we hope to be back with our daughters soon 😊

  Comfortable but no privacy

  Liked: The room was cleaned and towels replaced daily, a nice breakfast was provided each morning, the check-in and check-out process was very simple, and the bed and pillows were sufficiently comfortable (uncommon for Italian hotels/B&B's). The kitchen has everything one should need while on vacation. The location is a pleasant, 5 minute walk from the night life.

  Disliked: There is almost no privacy in this place. My wife and I were placed in the room next to entrance, across from the kitchen. You can hear EVERYTHING that is happening on both sides of the door - every key twist, every footstep, every whisper, every clink of a spoon in the kitchen - everything there is to hear can be heard while laying in bed. That means: you don't decide how to spend your time like when to fall asleep and when to wake up (or anything else on your agenda). This made the stay very un-romantic for us as a married couple on vacation. The ceiling also transmits quite a bit of noise when people are walking in the room above. We were awakened several times from what sounded like continuous stomping, but what was probably just someone preparing for their day. The entrance to the house is also comically narrow. It couldn't be more than 45-50cm wide (18in) since it's a split door and one of the doors is locked. I'm quite lean and muscular and had trouble entering and leaving every time - a bizarre experience. Luckily, we only had backpacks, or else a full-size suitcase might not fit through altogether. The place is called a "hotel" but in reality, it feels a lot more like a family-run B&B. There is no anonymity whatsoever and you constantly feel that you are being watched. I won't go into details. It suffices to say that the cleaning service, concierge, breakfast, etc. should not be handled all by the same person, nor by a sociable person who lives near the hotel that sees and knows everything you do. This is unprofessional. Despite this, the "staff" was helpful when needed. Hotels usually also have more than 30ml of shampoo for an 8-night stay. I'd happily pay another €5 on top to not have to think about this. The shower needs a refresh. The doors don't seal completely and leave water all over the floor. The shower wand doesn't stay in place and requires one hand at all times.
