  Well-placed hotel, but in need of modernisation

  Liked: The hotel is well-placed with a nice, clean pool area. Given its location, it's an easy walk to the castle and the main part of the town, the ferry terminal and the park. Breakfast was included, and consisted of a good range of cold meats, jams pastries etc but no hot food. There was an outdoor, pretty terrace area also. The décor of our room, and the hotel generally, was rather sad and tired though. The reception area had furniture which appeared many years old, as was the furniture in our room. In fact, our room looked as though it had not been decorated for over 30 years; the wallpaper was peeling off the walls in places. The bed was a little on the hard side On our first of 3 days and nights at the hotel, I tried to unplug my phone charger and the entire socket came out of the wall as it was not well-secured! I reported it straight away, but nothing was done about it. The bathroom was ok, it was a reasonable size with sufficient towels. The staff we encountered were all polite and friendly, but the hotel itself needs some serious money spent on it to freshen it up.
