Fabulous
A privilege to experience true Portuguese culture and food
Liked: The best view in the Algarve!!! Authentic, not pretentious. A real home, spotless and everything you need to entertain and live like you are in your own property. The smell of fabulous Algarve food being prepared daily, wafting onto the balcony, from the perfect Tapas restaurant down stairs, makes you feel like you are part of a really special community. We felt so privileged and will return next year.
Disliked: Should have booked two weeks.
Could be wonderful but not there for few reasons
Liked: Excellent location if you stay in Carvoeiro. Amazing views from the balcony, and we enjoyed free concerts every night right from it. Beach nearby is great and clean, all famous walks are close by, plenty of restaurants and mini-markets. Spacious apartment for a family - 2 bedrooms plus a good size lounge, plenty of space for everyone, but we were all hanging out next to the balcony for obvious reasons. Clean apartment - you could tell the host prepared for the arrival, and communication with the host was good.
Disliked: Washing machine was not working - not helpful when you go on long hikes and to the beach almost every day mid-summer, and this had not been communicated in advance. We also had issues with the stove top which wasn't working. The owner said they had tested it and everything had been fine before our arrival so we did not follow up. We ended up using only the kettle to boil water and did not cook because of that. Cockroaches came up as unpleasant surprise - I woke up in the middle of the night because something was crawling on my head, and I knocked it off. We found a dead cockroach in our bedroom next morning. Another one was crawling on the floor the night before we left. We haven't stayed long enough for this to become an irritating experience, but I did question my sleeping safety because of the first night. Also, we noticed a strange smell in the apartment when it was locked while we were away and then came back. I suspect it came from the pipes, but it's hard to tell. The apartment had a note claiming the property would be renovated soon, so I hope it will get a second life - it is a lovely place and deserves love and care.
Wonderful balcony
Liked: The view from the balcony and location.
Disliked: It was very run down, the host didn’t mention the washing machine was out of order (didn’t offer to fix it or offer an alternative eg launderette and pay for it). Cockroach poo on kitchen bench. We understand cockroaches are near the coast but it appeared the apartment hadn’t been checked before our arrival. It would have been nice to have had some basics, such as salt and pepper, like all the ither places we stayed.
Liked: Everything. A minute walk to beach. Nice big flat. Lovely balcony to ppl watch. Host was easy to contact if needed
Disliked: Nothing. Washing machine was out of action at the time. But cant be helped.

Liked: Although the place is not brand new it was a great place to stay. Clean, cosy, well equipped with a stunning view. Check in easy as well as host support! Recommended!!
