Fabulous
Sense of Ofir, but no sense of hospitality
Disliked: I have stayed in hundreds of hotels across continents, at every price point imaginable, and it wouldn’t be fair to compare Sense of Ofir to any of them. Those other places provided hospitality. The welcome was a warning. Not a “hello,” not a smile, just a snappy “you can’t park here.” We were dragging heavy suitcases. For a moment, I thought it was a fellow guest with an attitude problem. No. It was staff. Her colleague explained she was in a rush to go to the beach. Makes sense. One of the main reasons we chose this place was the option to have dinner on-site (given how remote it is). On arrival, we’re simply told dinner is fully booked. No one thought to ask in advance if we’d like to reserve a table (you know, that’s what they do everywhere else). Just a suggestion to go find food elsewhere. The infrastructure? Pure comedy. The TV: broken. The minibar: nonexistent. A bottle of water in the room: also nonexistent. A WhatsApp message asking for water: ignored. The “view” from the bed: toilets on one side, people doing yoga on the other. The gate: broken. We were trapped for 15 minutes, which made us late for dinner (the one we were forced to book outside if you didn’t follow). The morning was the grand finale. No “good morning,” no “did you sleep well.” Instead: “you can’t sit here, this table is for four.” Five minutes later, they sat two people at that very table. The kind of petty nonsense that sums the place up perfectly. Sense of Ofir is an obstacle course disguised as a hotel. A place where the guest is a nuisance, comfort is optional, and hospitality a word they forgot to Google. And for the love of god, the staff member who “”welcomed”” us and “”looked after”” breakfast should find another industry. Any other.
Very disappointing. Not as described and totally overpriced with poor service
Liked: Its proximity to the beach & the one evening meal we had was good local food.
Disliked: The room was not appropriate for four people. It was advertised for 4 but only had two single beds and one small sofa bed for 2 teenagers. Which was not appropriate to sleep in. The dressing room and wardrobe were none existent; not as described and totally misleading for what was there. Again totally inadequate for 4 people. The price for four nights together with the description was positioned as a small luxury hotel. This was totally misleading. The facilities were far from advertised. It is no more than a B&B villa with bedrooms. We sat outside on the terrace for 2 hours, no staff were available to order a drink. The breakfast was poor, ticking what you wanted on arrival for the next 4 days. No buffet, selection or dietary choices. We left early after complaining with no offer of a refund. The girl at checkout on discovering we were leaving 2 days early made no comment. A VERY disappointing stay and not a good reflection on Portuguese hospitality.

Liked: The food - dinner AND breakfast was exceptional. The lodging felt very private and eco-wellness amongst larger resorts nearby. I would come to Portugal AGAIN just to stay at this place. Absolutely beautiful and a welcome break to my day of walking on the Camino - it did turn out that it was a couple miles off the Camino BUT I would do it again. I was able to get an Uber the next morning to take me back to the Camino trail since I had a very long day of walking ahead so saving a couple of miles was crucial. Uber was excellent.
