Abusive, aggressive behaviour from the host on last day
Liked: - unfortunately all of the good points were wiped out by the host, Paolo's behaviour, on our check out day, so I will now no longer list them. Had Paolo not treated us so badly, we would have awarded them 10/10. - as I've a character limit in the negative section, I'll continue here. Please read the negative section first. - When we raced back to the apartment to retrieve our luggage as Paolo had sent such abusive messages and threatened to throw it in the street, his wife Isabel was extremely apologetic. She said that in summer, Paolo has anger management issues and needs medication. This is unacceptable. People with anger management issues should not be running hotels for guests. A few days before, we had an idea of Paolo's anger as he had forgotten his key for the front door, and smashed one of the window panes in to be able to unlock it from the inside. Paolo also went on and on and on about how little money we had paid for 7 nights compared to other options in Olhao - this is irrelevant and uncouth. We didnt choose to stay at Ztir because of the good price, we chose to stay there because we enjoy being with locals and supporting local businesses. Just beause we have paid a good price doesn't mean we should be subject to verbal abuse because we have not mind-read invisible cleaning policies. Paolo did, a few hours later, send a message apologising for his behaviour, but then attempted to justify it once more by saying people pay very little to stay at Ztir, and yet leave rubbish. He said how our neighbours during our stay had also left rubbish and complained of uncleanliness. It is extremely unprofessional to discuss other guests complaints with another party. I have reported Paolo to Booking.com and his behaviour has been escalated to the senior team. As a verified guest, I am within my rights to leave a full review detailing our true experience and if I receive any further abuse I will take further action.
Disliked: - unfortunately, on our last day and after check out, we were subjected to aggressive, abusive, racist, profane messages from the host, Paolo, and this is totally unacceptable. Had Paolo not sent such abusive messages, we were going to award Ztir a 10/10 as we had, until that moment, enjoyed our holiday so much. All of that is now completely removed as Paolo's messages and behaviour towards us was so disgusting and it totally ruined our last day and our relaxed, well-deserved holiday that we had in Olhao. I've uploaded some screenshots of the messages below but to clarify, the reason we were sent such abuse is because we left 3 bags of rubbish in the apartment after check-out. That is the sole reason. The way Paolo abused us, you would think we had smashed the room to pieces. If any prospective guests would like to see further messages, as I cannot upload them all and have a review character limit, I am happy to send them. In none of the policies listed online, and in none of the communications from the host, did it say we were expected to take out rubbish. Had this been communicated to us, we would have done it - I've stayed all over the world in many different accommodations and if any host has said in their policies or communications that the apartment needs it's rubbish taking out, then we will do it. But as it stood, that wasn't communicated to us, so we simply left it tied up in bags in the room. This provoked an onslaught of abusive messages from Paolo, where he threatened to throw our luggage in the street. We had left our luggage with his wife Isabel as we had a late flight. Isabel kindly said we could come back for them at 5pm with no problem. We had also spoken to Isabel that morning regarding the check out time of 11am - Paolo had requested via messages that we leave earlier as they had another guest coming at 11.30am, but after speaking with Isabel about our late flight, she herself told us it was no problem to leave at 11am.

An excellent place to stay
Liked: The hosts, Paolo and Isabel and their animals. The terrace - I spent a lot of time on it just reading. The location is ideal for wandering around and near to everything a person could need. I highly recommend Ztir.
