Liked: Property was centrally located and the grounds were beautiful. We initially booked a stay in the main house, but our AC was broken so we were moved to the villa. Jessica handled this very professionally and quickly, she was wonderful. The villa was clean and newer than the rest of the property, which was really nice! The original property is due for some fresh wallpaper, but that’s largely aesthetic! Some of the staff were lovely! Specifically Jessica and Berta. The breakfasts are a wonderful inclusion, the family dinner option was great value, and the room in the villa was clean and well maintained. The property made it really easy to chat with other guests, and it was a lovely experience overall. Housekeeping was consistent and kept our room clean and tidy. The option for laundry is great to have despite the hiccups (read more below) and I appreciate the thoughtfulness of a lot of their setup. Many of the volunteers like Alessandro and Katarina were very friendly and inclusive, always saying hi and checking in.

Disliked: There’s room for communication improvement with this property. Everything is done online (eg family dinner booking, laundry booking, tour booking) but their systems haven’t nailed down confirmations and communication. For example, we were able to book laundry for Sunday. Online booking says a basket is provided, and it’ll get done and left in our room. We found out on Monday upon inquiring that laundry isn’t done on Sundays, and we needed to go to the front desk to pick up our basket and return it in the morning. This was never communicated on any channel, including on the online booking, even though staff had access to reach us on WhatsApp and could have let us know to grab the basket on Monday. This delayed our laundry by two days — not a big deal, but an example of how more clarity and communication on the online portal would’ve been beneficial. Additionally, it was rare that staff were at the front desk which made asking these kinds of questions a bit more challenging. There are always signs on where to find staff, though it can take a day or two to figure out who can help with what since they had newer volunteers on the roster. One suggestion is for the hostel to consider a “junior tour guide” pricing for their tours. Our tour guide had only been on the island for a few days, and we were really hoping for a more experienced guide. The guide was lovely and we had a lot of fun, but it wasn’t quite what we expected as we were hoping to be led by someone more knowledgeable about the island and our routes. The main house is original from the early 1900s so sound proofing wasn’t great. Generally not a big deal, but something to know if you’re sensitive to noise! Overall, the staff were clearly doing their best during turnover season. We found out that many of the volunteers were fairly new to the property, which likely made things less smooth than normal! Most of what we didn’t like was a system issue, not a staffing one!

    Great guided tours

Liked: Marco and Jessica + all the other super friendly people working there. The guided tours 👍👍 Nice breakfast

Disliked: Room lack space for suitcases and personal belongings. Glass door to toilet next to the bed. The American pancakes got a bit boring after 3 days 😉 Slightly overpriced

Excellent stay and value for money

Liked: The location was excellent, staff were extremely helpful and the hostel was clean. I ate both nights I was there. Tapas was brilliant, as well as a good choice of cocktails. Family dinner is an excellent idea, a good way to get travellers together.
