Exceptional
Great holiday in the orange groves
Liked: We had a great time in our week here, It's situated 5 mins drive outside Silves with its excellent castle and numerous eating places. The pool is large and suited our daughter perfectly with the added bonus of inflatables. The kitchen was very well equipped and had a large fridge freezer and ample space. Really enjoyed watching the oranges being picked. We would love to return.
Disliked: Floors were a little bit dirty but the ample cleaning products and equipment soon sorted it.
For us perfect loved it
Liked: The property suited us perfect very quiet a bar and food within walking distance. Beautiful swimming pool. Loved the frogs, and bird life. We had a very nice time. Will go back again.
Disliked: All was good for us, nothing that we disliked. Very peaceful so don’t go if you don’t like being away from everything.
Exceptional
Liked: Peaceful and quiet; very close to all the local amenities in Silves and within short driving distance to the beaches and children attractions in the Algarve. Very clean. Good communication with the owner. Excellent location for our needs- exactly what we were looking for.
Pleasant but needs some work
Liked: The property itself is very utilitarian and clearly purpose built. It's clean with a reasonably well fitted out kitchen. The patio area and pool were lovely. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe space. Having a good hairdryer was a bonus. The hosts were helpful and understanding. Silves is 10 minutes away so shopping was easy and quick.
Disliked: It's a bit challenging to park and we weren't given any instructions about opening the gates to the left of property to access parking. Neither were there lights when arriving at night. There was no welcome pack so when we arrived at 10pm there was nothing not even water and nothing to have for breakfast. Usually we have been given a small welcome pack of water, milk, bread, butter & coffee. The air con is only in the living space and despite keeping doors closed and blinds down the bedroom got hot at night. We had to keep the doors open to help the cool air to circulate ( it was 34-36 degrees when we were there). The pool area whilst nice is not child friendly. There are no guard rails around the pool and the fruit orchard comes right up to the pool area and farmers access it as and when needed. Small children might fall over the edge of the pool or wander off into the trees. The drop at the right side of the pool, despite there being a hedge, is quite long. There is also access to the next door property via stepping stones and so not much privacy down by the pool. Neither are we sure if the next door villa has access tot he pool. The details say it has two bathrooms. It doesn't it has one bathroom and a separate extra toilet. The kitchen is relatively well equipped but lacked small pans. As we were working we found the lack of plug sockets by the tables inside and out a bit of a challenge. You might need an extension lead. The area is quite windy but the villa lacked a clothes line (the washing machine was broken whilst we were there so I hand washed). There was an airer which kept blowing over because of the wind. The hand rails from the patio to the garden get very hot and will burn a child's hands. It is in a relatively quiet area but just for info there is a barking dog next door. I got the impression this is a new renter so there may be some teething trouble but on the whole the stay was pleasant.
Value for money stay in hills above Silves
Liked: Quiet area, excellent pool, close to pub/restaurant,, 5 mins to Silves by car.
