  I enjoyed a lovely fortnight here, improving my fitness and appreciation of the countryside by not hiring a car

  Liked: I was I. The ‘loft’ part of the property. I was a single occupier, although it was set up for four, which might have been a squeeze. I loved the large sun patio, the enjoyed the well equipped kitchenette and the comfortable bed. The facilities at Golden Club were a super bonus - the sun loungers around the pool and the complementary water taxi to the beach were splendid! Walking into Tavira and catching the train home was a neat way to get some exercise. I didn’t find not hiring a car to be a problem, there being enough to occupy me as a first time traveller for a fortnight. the owner was especially good in helping me plan transfer transportation and resolve my late check-in time - thank you, Ricardo! As a single female traveller I felt very safe in the accommodation complex as well as the town. Cabannas is pretty. I was blessed with great weather, but access to the indoor pool would have been very useful for rainy days.

  Disliked: Both WiFi channels were hopeless, but buying additional data and using 5G worked very well. The second bed-space had an acutely slanting roof, which would have been a challenge for two to sleep in. The shower was a bit awkward. There was no comfortable lounge-seating and the TV was perched so near the ceiling that I wouldn’t have been able to watch it for long, had the WiFi been working.

  Fantastic Apartment

  Liked: Lovely 2nd floor apartment in a quiet block by the indoor pool. The bedroom got the morning sun and the terrace was in the sun after 1pm (it was November). The spa was included and well needed as it did rain for a couple of days. The indoor pool and jacuzzi require a swimming cap but the steam room and sauna are within the (same sex) changing rooms and don't need you to wear anything, if you don't want to! The gym was 5€ a day or €21 for a week and the staff were really good at coaching tips and spoke excellent English. The WiFi was great and the kitchen was big enough for two. Cabanas is a wonderful place to stay; walk to Tavira in under an hour or take the no.41 bus or travel along the coast by train from Conceicao.

  Disliked: Some rugs on the cold tiled floor in the winter months and the outdoor furniture needs replacing.
