  Lovely stay in a reasonable priced apartment

  Liked: We really liked the location and the price of our stay. We enjoyed the balconies and being able to contact the hosts when we needed to.

  Disliked: Unfortunately the oven wasn't working well, also some power sockets didn't seem to be working. It would be a good idea to buy a shower curtain for the shower!

  Liked: The location is good and the balcony overlooking the park is a plus, with a small ocean view. Spacious, apart from the kitchen. Instructions from the host meant it was easy to locate and we managed to find free parking within a 2 minute walk each day.

  Disliked: I read several reviews before visiting which worried me, but I approached this with a positive attitude. Alas, I was disappointed. Hygiene - we encountered one very big coachroach in the kitchen on day 1. This put us on edge for the rest of the stay. Once you see one you can't fully relax. Duvet for the bed had unpleasant stains on it which were visible because the Duvet was only covered by a loose sheet, not a proper duvet cover. Contray to previous reviews, the shower did work, but the shower curtain was fabric which black mold stains. The sofa needs to be put in the trash and we didn't use it. Comfort - the bed is extremely small and the mattress is old and uncomfortable. The sofa is awful, old and dirty so you can't use it to relax. The bedroom is on the side of the apartment exposed to the road, there is also no air conditioning, so if you want to sleep you either have to have the window closed and sweat or open the window and be woken by the sound of traffic of drunk people talking in the street. As mentioned previously, it is also hard to fully relax once you seen a cockroach. My wife and I have stayed in Troia many times over the years, and have sampled various forms of accommodation in the area, unfortunately this was the worst. However, a few simple changes would drastically improve the experience. 1. Identify routes of entry of cockroaches and block them. 2. Replace the sofa. 3. Replace the small bed with a king size bed (this room is easily large enough). Buy a mattress and bedding from IKEA, these are cheap but very comfortable. 4. Replace the shower curtain with a screen that can be easily cleaned. 5. Review the utensils provided in the kitchen. There was one sharp knife, no corkscrew (which should be a crime in Portugal!) and only 1 wine glass. Until these issues are addressed I would advise others to pay extra to stay elsewhere..

  Nice, cosy apartment close to the beach:)

  Liked: Lovely place, close to the beach, shops and Marina. The owner response very quickly in case any issue. Apartment entrance indeed take time to find but nothing a good reader can’t find with instructions given, then you just go on autopilot:)
