Where to stay in Aragon
Zaragoza
Zaragoza is the city base: staying near the Plaza del Pilar or in the old town puts the basilica, La Seo cathedral and the El Tubo tapas streets within walking distance. High-speed trains link it to Madrid and Barcelona, which also makes it practical for business trips.
The Pyrenees of Huesca
The Aragonese Pyrenees are where the mountain hotels are: Jaca as a base town, the Tena valley and Benasque for skiing and hiking, and Torla as the gateway to Ordesa National Park. Book early in summer, as access to Ordesa by car is restricted and the area gets busy.
Teruel and the Maestrazgo
Teruel's great draw is its Mudéjar architecture, with a small centre you can see on foot. Albarracín, one of the most visited villages in the province, and the villages of the Matarraña and the Maestrazgo have rural hotels and stone houses for an unhurried road trip.
