A VERY PLEASANT HOTEL IN A PRETTY VILLAGE -BUT THE RESTAURANT LETS IT DOWN

Liked: THE BREAKFAST WAS OK - MORE OR LESS AS YOU WOULD FIND IN A SPANISH BAR. NO OFFER OF EGGS ETC.

Disliked: I DECIDED TO EAT IN THE RESTAURANT, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE RATHER A BAD CHOICE. THERE WAS ONE PERSON SERVING WHO WAS ALSO LOOKING AFTER THE BAR AS WELL SO THE SERVICE WAS FAIRLY SLOW AND THE FOOD WAS NOT GOOD AT ALL. I ASKED FOR A GLASS OF THE HOUSE RED WINE. IT WAS DREADFUL, SO I BOUGHT A HALF BOTTLE OF A WINE I KNEW. THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD WINES IN SPAIN AND THAT ARE NOT AT ALL EXPENSIVE, SO THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR SERVIN A HOUSE WINE THAT I WOULD NOT EVEN USE FOR COOKING. THE HOTEL IS PERFECTLY COMFORTABLE, BUT IF I STAY THERE AGAIN I WOULD EAT AT A RESTAURANT IN THE VILLAGE AND NOT IN THE HOTEL.

Liked: Nothing remarkable but is clean and comfy

Disliked: The fact that they charged for the breakfast without any warning that was not included in the price

    Love-hate relationship with this place

Liked: Very mixed feelings about this place. The things I liked I really liked and the things I disliked I really disliked. Starting with the good: big, clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed, beautiful views from pretty much anywhere around the hotel, lovely interior decorating style throughout the entire place, lovely space for breakfast and lunch, with big windows overlooking the hills and the forest. The parking place was nice, in spite of the distance from the main entrance. The lady at the reception was absolutely delightful, kind and always with a smile, provided me with all the info I needed for a day of hiking and was very sweet and attentive (cannot really say the same thing about the man who was at the reception when I arrived, unfortunately). The lunch menu is nice and diverse enough to suit every taste (but please tell the cook to go easy on the salt!)

Disliked: I messaged the property a few days before my arrival with some questions and never got an answer. The parking is not really secured, it is by the main road and does not have a gate or a camera of any kind. The hotel itself is, in some regards, stuck in the 1990s. It takes longer for the elevator to go down one floor than it does for me to go up the same floor (with luggage). The hairdryer in my room must have been 40 years old and a piece of it came apart in my hands. I have only seen this kind of appliance in movies (or was it the history books?). The fact that there is no way to signal on the outside of the door to your room that you do not want to be disturbed and that you do not want for anyone to come and make the bed and clean the room is something I though did not exist anymore. I was only there for 2 nights and the thought of people coming in my room and touching my things and moving them around makes my skin crawl. A "do not disturb" sign on the door should be available in every room but was not available here. The fact that there are two signs by the reception desk, one saying that guests must leave the key at the reception whenever they leave the premises (to avoid key loss) and one saying that the hotel takes no responsibility for anything that may go missing from the rooms is in no way reassuring. Nothing went missing, to be clear, but the aggressive messaging did put me in an unfortunate state of mind.

Repetiremos.
