Fabulous
Beautiful hotel with so much charm and comfort we will definitely be returning
Liked: The property promotes peace and tranquility and it really delivers. The rooms are large and spacious with quirky features and old world charm. The beds and other facilities were comfortable and in keeping with the charm of the buildings. Loved the inner courtyard and the restaurant overlooking the valley view with nightly aerial performances by the swallows, swifts and white storks. Loved our time here
Disliked: Very hot at this time of year in this part of the country. Not the hotels fault but people should check the temperatures before going.
Beyond expectation
Liked: This is one of those rural hotels that exceeds expectations. Highly recommend it for a short stay. All of the staff go well beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Highly recommend.
Disliked: There was nothing that I would say I disliked
Liked: It was beautiful and very authentic. It's a converted convent and it has a great old world appeal with modern touches. Location is near the castle and church. You will hear the church bells but that's pretty normal in Spain towns. You can pull to the front of the hotel and unload bags, that's convenient.
Disliked: This location doesn't have onsite parking but there is parking close by. It's not a major negative I just wanted to mention it for others.
Liked: You walk into history when you pass through the solid wooden gate of Palacio Guzmanes. Staying in an historic building is a plus when visiting such an historic town with one of the oldest castles in Spain and a hermitage that will blow your mind. And then the view... we arrived at night in the pouring rain, but awoke to the spectacular panorama of misty olive groves from the medieval mansion´s tiled terrace. It captivated my guests from Minnesota to be sure! The food and service in the hotel was excellent. It was nice not to have to look for a restaurant in town during pouring rain at night.
Disliked: They need to keep the parking space in front of the main door clear for loading and unloading. I don't know if it was another guest or a staff member, but we got soaked trying to unload two blocks away in torrential rain.
Rustic with stunning views
Liked: The hotel is located in a narrow street so parking was difficult to begin with however we were able to book a space in the car park below the hotel and just off loaded our luggage at the entrance. Our room was on the top floor with a balcony and overlooked the terrace and the views were stunning. No lift and quite a few stairs! Very rustic interior, bed was very comfortable and shower was very good. We enjoyed a drink on the terrace before exploring the nearby castle. Dinner was due to be served at 8.15pm but they were happy to serve us earlier. Food was good and value for money. Breakfast was from a menu and not buffet style.
Disliked: I had made several requests for a car parking space as it did state that we had to book and it may have been a language issue that prevented that. We were the only guests staying so we were lucky that there was a space available as the garage is not large and there are no on street spaces as the roads are narrow. So I would recommend that you make sure you have an acknowledgement that you have booked your space if you want to use the garage.
Superb
Liked: All things. Especially place.
