  Gem of a hotel, perfect location

  Liked: This was a gem of a hotel, quirky, perfect location, character room with everything you could need; staff were lovely & helpful, just be mindful that hotel reception closes at 9pm. Check in was done online, a bit harder than it should have been but worth it in the end! As others have said the loo & shower are not too private however I would say that if you are sharing a bed then it shouldn't be a problem! We could hear the upstairs room flushing the toilet BUT this is a very old property and it wasn't a problem for us. (room 17) I didn't find the bed too comfortable although my husband did so its all down to personal taste. Coffee & cake in the room and more available if required, secure luggage room which we used on arrival & departure. Absolute astounding value for money for a major city, would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  Liked: Nicely setup, very well situated.

  Disliked: Room was small and there was not enough separation, between bathroom and bedroom, just a glass door. Open shower made the bathroom very wet after a shower.

  You need a bed for the night, and the bed was in order

  Disliked: But the hotel is convinced about their IT, all nice and fancy. The check-in is way too cumbersome and when I made a mistake in a date, the error message was a. not in the right place and b. not telling what the real problem was. It took about 5 iterations to get this right. Totally not designed with the customer in mind. The three other guests I spoke with were all (without me starting the conversation) complaining about the way to get in. If you want to be fancy, make sure you're on top of it. The fact that the elevator broke down and that there were no glasses in the room did not help.
