Liked: Cosy, and homely boutique hotel tucked in the middle of a bustling city. No frills but affords the warmness and hospitality, and provides soft touches such as its drink station for coffee/tea and morning croissants. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Shoutout to Abdul at the front desk! This was a repeat stay as we started and ended our Spain trip in Barcelona at this very hotel. Highly Recommended!

Disliked: Unsure if it was just our room, but a strong sewage smell permeates from the bathroom once the air goes stale.

Perfect Location and Charming Building, but the Room Could Be Better

Liked: The location is perfect! It’s very close to Casa Milà and Casa Batlló. The building is old but beautiful, with very high ceilings, which I absolutely love. They serve fresh croissants 🥐 in the morning, and you wake up to their amazing smell!

Disliked: The room is quite humid, and it practically has no window. I mean, there is a window, but it faces a wall that is extremely close, so there’s no view at all.

One bad staff ruined the whole experience

Liked: In general, the hotel is good location. I believe it was an old apartment renovated into a hotel so architecture is nice. Unfortunately, we had an incident in our first room and the way one of the staffs (Abdul) handled it was horrible. The other staffs are nice and very supportive though.

Disliked: It started out badly where the room lock wasn't working and we cannot entered the room. The night staff (Maria) needs to help us fix it. Then we found out the shower wasn't working properly (some issues with the knobs) and there was no hot water in the shower! Maria had to come up to the room many times trying to help us but unfortunately, she also cannot fix it. She tried to offer us some wine&champaign as a compensation but it was late and we were really tired so we didn't take it. She tried to find other room for us but the hotel was fully booked that night. Given no other choices, we agreed that she would change the room for us tomororw and she also offered to check if we can get partial refund given so many things are broken that night. The way she handled things that night is really professional and we really appreciated her help. We went through that night barely get to shower as the water is super cold. In the morning with the new staff, Abdul, this is where things got worse. The discussion about the new room was fine. Even though I get no apology at all. When I asked him to follow up about the refund, he snapped and raised his voice - There is no refund! He also questioned if there were really an issue in the room. I was mad. The refund is not even the point but even the hotel has no refund policy, there are many many ways to say it in nicer way to your customers. There were back and forth and I left the conversation with just ok he and his maintenance folks can check the issue. How he handled it this morning gave me plenty of points to leave reviews for the hotel already. When we were back in the afternoon, I didn't follow up about the refund anymore. But when I was waiting for our group in the lobby, he initiated the conversation saying they checked and there was no issue with the hot water or anything else. Oh my god, what's the point of this conversation? Just to say our group and his own staff lied?

The Perfect Storm: Hotel, Food, SIght-Seeing

Liked: An ideal place to stay. Staff are wonderful AND responsive. Rooms are beautiful and quiet. Location could not be better. This was the first hotel we stayed upon arrival and the last hotel we stayed in after the end of our trip before departure. What a great way to begin and end time in Spain. Imagine, walking down the Passeig de Gracia and seeing amazing creations by Gaudí, Casa Amatller and Casa Lleó Morera, and a short walk beyond to La Pedrera (Casa Milá). And for great tapas, one block from Praktic Rambla is Vinitus. And in the back of Casa Amatller is the great breakfast place Faborit Café. Now you know some real treasures: from the Praktic Rambla to special places to visit to eating. And if you are blessed, take a personal tour with Xavier Monturo of RunnerBean tours. His love of Gaudí shines brightly. Then you have the perfect storm, a royal flush in travel.

Disliked: Only one thing. I wish I had more time to spend in Spain.
