Fabulous
Excellent Accommodation
Liked: What a lucky find, driving back to southern Spain. This is a modern recently refurbished hostel, very high standard. Great location in a very interesting small town.Breakfast cheap and plentiful. Also dog friendly. The bar and restaurant below is also very good with v reasonable prices.Plenty of parking on street, even on a busy Saturday night.
Disliked: Nothing
'A Journey Through the Alcarria' - the lavender fields of Brihuega for one night only
Liked: The location is right in the middle of the town, next to the arch leading into the historic quarter. The old façade hides the totally modern, well-equipped and comfortable rooms. The on-site bar/cafeteria was good for breakfast, as were its light options for dinner (I didn't try the restaurant)
Disliked: Nothing really - Brihuega is tight for parking, but the street alongside leading up toward a gate in the walls had plenty of space
Not recommended for couples
Liked: There were also several things that we really appreciated during our stay. Our room was ready earlier than expected, at around 1:30 p.m., so we were able to check in ahead of the official check-in time, which was very convenient. The staff were always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The entire hostel was spotlessly clean, and housekeeping clearly did an excellent job. We also really enjoyed the food in the hostel's restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious. Finally, the location is excellent. It is convenient for exploring the area and was one of the highlights of our stay.
Disliked: I specifically booked a room with one large bed, and I paid extra for this option because it was clearly offered during the booking process. Having a proper double bed was important to us. Unfortunately, what we received was not a room with one large bed at all. Instead, there were two separate twin beds pushed together, each with its own mattress. Covering them with one large sheet did not solve the problem. The beds constantly moved apart. Whether we were simply relaxing during the afternoon, sleeping at night, or just lying on the bed, they kept sliding away from each other. Instead of resting, we spent the entire stay trying not to fall into the gap between the mattresses and constantly pushing the beds back together. This completely ruined our comfort and seriously affected our stay. I expected to receive exactly what I had booked and paid extra for. Instead, I got something entirely different. Another inconvenience was that there wasn't a rubbish bin in the room itself. The only bin was in the bathroom, so every time we wanted to throw something away, we had to walk there. It may seem like a small detail, but most hotel rooms have a waste bin in the main room as well, and its absence made the stay less comfortable. This was, by far, the biggest disappointment of our stay, and I am extremely disappointed. Had I known that a "large bed" actually meant two single beds pushed together, I would never have chosen or paid extra for this option. Overall, I'm not sure I would stay at this hostel again because I can't be confident that I would actually receive the type of bed I booked. The issue with the bed affected almost the entire experience. I would honestly say it ruined 98% of our stay. A comfortable bed is one of the most important parts of any accommodation, and unfortunately, that was exactly what was missing here.
Great location in the town, exceedingly helpful lady on reception when we arrived, beautifully clean
Liked: Good breakfast served in the bar/cafeteria downstairs. Tasty coffee, a huge slice of tortilla de patatas and tostada de tomate.
Disliked: Nothing, we loved it all, exceptional value for money, spotless room and en suite bathroom with a large shower.
Liked: Love the hotel staff. Very friendly
