Plaza del Coso and the old town

The Plaza del Coso is the village's large, elongated square and the place where people gather. From here you can walk to the churches of San Felipe and San Miguel, the entrance to the caves and most of the bars and restaurants. If it is your first visit and you want to get around without a car for your whole stay, look in this area.

The Puerta de la Cadena, one of the gates in the wall, is a few steps away and marks the classic entrance to the old town.

Best-rated in this area: Castilla Termal Brihuega, with a score of 9.4 from 1,630 reviews.

By the Piedra Bermeja castle

The castle and Santa María de la Peña look out from the cliff above the Tajuña. Places to stay nearby offer views of the valley and very calm nights, because almost no cars pass here. It is a good choice for couples or for those travelling to photograph the village in the first light, when mist sometimes still covers the valley.

Royal Cloth Factory and the valley

The old cloth factory keeps its gardens overlooking the valley. The lower part of the village, towards the river, is more residential and has better car access. It suits you if you are travelling as a family, have bulky luggage or plan to head out on trips every day. The gardens are a good place for a quiet stroll before dinner.

Best-rated in this area: Castilla Termal Brihuega, with a score of 9.4 from 1,630 reviews.

Outlying villages and lavender fields

Brihuega has several outlying villages within its municipality, such as Villaviciosa de Tajuña, Tomellosa, Romancos or Gajanejos. They are small villages with rural houses and very little traffic. In summer they put you close to the lavender fields that cover the Alcarria plateau, away from the bustle of the town on flowering weekends. A car is essential, although the A-2 motorway is close and Madrid and Guadalajara are easy to reach.
