Exceptional
Character and comfort in a heritage house
Liked: What an amazingly beautiful house, in a lovely location, with a really friendly host (Phil). It was a pleasure to spent time there (we visited both on the outward and return legs of our journey). The room is more of a 'suite', with a very spacious bathroom (with large shower and a separate claw-foot tub!), a bedroom, and a sitting room, with an olde world feel. Lots of character and comfort. The stone walls meant that the suite would be cooler in Summer (we found it cool enough, without aircon) and (presumably) easier to keep warm in Winter. There was also a beautiful walled garden with fountain, a perfect secluded setting for breakfast. The accommodation is in the old part of Chinchon and a short walk to the centre with a variety of restaurants and bars.
Disliked: The only suggestion would be to have more breakfast options for people who prefer less sweet things (some slices of cheese for example, to have with the tomato on bread which was the only savoury option).
