Exceptional
Nice hotel for a few days
Liked: It looked modern and pink!
Disliked: Hot breakfast was cold. Coffee machine kept breaking. Bathroom too small.
Fabulous
Liked: Quirky clean comfy great location
Gorgeous hotel, but fake-cool in a bad location
Liked: This place is beautiful. Let’s get that out of the way first. Extremely photogenic, very well designed, very well maintained, and full of little details that make it feel expensive and considered. Big mirror in the bedroom, Smeg fridge, cool finishes, great pool, fantastic landscaping. If your goal is to take photos that make everyone back home think you spent the week at some impossibly glamorous Ibiza party hotel, this place absolutely nails it. The problem is that once you stop taking pictures of your impossibly glamorous life, you realize there isn’t actually that much going on. The hotel sits on this little strip outside San Antonio with a cluster of other hotels from the same group, some cheap supermarkets, and a very small number of average restaurants that seem to have figured out they have a semi-captive audience and priced accordingly. At night, there is basically nothing. No great bar to walk to. No cool late-night restaurant. No little scene. No real reason to leave the hotel on foot. And that feels like such an obvious missed opportunity. If I owned three or four stylish hotels out here, I’d build one genuinely great bar and restaurant between them, keep it open late, make it a destination, and suddenly the location would make sense. Guests from all the hotels would mix, there’d be somewhere to go after dinner, somewhere to come back to after the clubs, and the whole thing would actually feel social. Instead, you’re stranded. Literally. Coming back from a club is even worse: there is nowhere nearby to eat. Most guests seem to rely on taxis, and Ibiza taxis during club season are not exactly famous for appearing when summoned. We had waits of around 40 minutes even late in the season, which is great fun when you have tickets and a club start time. A metered taxi ride that cost about €28 was showing at €58 to €70 on Uber because of dynamic pricing. San Antonio proper, about a 30-minute walk and roughly €12 by taxi is $30 each way on Uber.
Disliked: The pool itself is great, but the way the property is built means it gets less sun than you’d expect, so late in the season it can feel surprisingly cold. Guests spent the day chasing the little slices of sun as they moved around each side of the pool. The pool also closes at 7:30 PM, and food service stops at 5:30 PM. That is wildly odd for a place selling the Ibiza lifestyle. And that brings me to the slightly funny part. You think you’re booking into a cool Ibiza scene. You imagine it will be a little like O Beach, but for hotels. What you’re actually booking into is a hotel full of people who also paid a lot of money because they thought they were booking into a cool Ibiza scene. There’s a difference. It’s a bit like a nightclub that was genuinely exclusive for two years, word-of-mouth entry, impossible to get into, everyone talking about it. Then eventually everyone hears about it, the doors open wider, and suddenly the whole room is full of people congratulating themselves for having found the exclusive nightclub. The hotel still looks great. The crowd is just... normal tourists in expensive sunglasses looking around and quietly wondering where all the cool party people are. Nothing wrong with that. But if you’re expecting some amazing social scene, pool parties, beautiful people drifting around all day, and that old-school Ibiza energy, lower the temperature on that fantasy a little. The price doesn’t help. We decided to switch hotels for our final week and move into the center of San Antonio so we wouldn’t be quite so isolated. One slightly sad detail summed it up perfectly. The hotel connects to Venice Beach, with an outdoor stage and a tired-looking recreation area. In the lobby there’s a basketball inviting guests to use it, so we took it over to the lone battered hoop. The ball was half flat. That was the hotel. Looks right. Just no bounce.
Liked: Everything good
Fun and quirky!
Liked: Loved the style and decor of the hotel, so cool and quirky. Outside area was gorgeous and we loved breakfast, great value for money.
Disliked: The second room allocated to our group was dark and small but after we spoke to reception we were moved to a much nicer room. Thank you
