Liked: Perfect Albergue for my last stop on the Camino. Have been here many times as it has all I need and the view is amazing. Lovely staff, clean facilities and a well stocked kitchen. Curtains, power and light in beds. Cotton sheets, towel and thick blanket provided. Muxía is a small town so everything is walkable. Two supermarkets and laundrette close by.
Fantastic stay
Liked: Staff were all lovely. Paco spoke perfect English and couldn't have been more helpful, provided a map of the local area highlighting the main attractions, made restraunt recommendations and key advice re bus timetable. The room was very comfortable and clean. Access to a cooking facilities and seating, great kitchen.
Disliked: They could have done with a table lamp. The lighting was very bright and I prefer softer lighting in the evening.
Loved my short two day stay in Muxia
Liked: Very comfortable beds and privacy with the curtains. Good bathroom and shower facilities, great location. I loved Muxia town, very cute with nice friendly people. I ate in a small cafe/restaurant a few doors down from the hostel and had a couple of menu del dias, very nice and reasonable. Local attractions included approx a 20 minute walk to see the beautiful: - Historic Santuario da Barca: A must-visit church perched on rocks by the sea, known for its spiritual significance and dramatic coastal views. - A Ferida: A striking sculpture near Monte Corpiño, symbolizing the town’s resilience and connection to the sea. Stunning! - Parish Church of San Martino de Ozon: Features a traditional Galician granary (horreo) in its garden, reflecting local architecture. I also absolutely loved the nearest large beach to the town - Praia de Lourido (Lourido beach). "Type: Wild, unspoiled Atlantic beach. Features: Shell-shaped stretch of sand with strong waves, scenic dunes, and great views toward Cape Vilán and A Barca. It is located near the luxury state-owned 4 star Parador de Muxía and acts as a stop along the Beach of Lourido - O Camiño dos Faros coastal hiking route." (https://paradores.es/en/parador-costa-da-morte) If I ever win the lottery, I will book a few nights in that Parador!
Disliked: On one of the nights, I got hardly any sleep due to a heavy snorer and had to wake them up. I wish they would move snorers into a room on their own. It says on Booking.com that the mixed dorm was 8 beds, it was actually 10 so it just needs updating. In the kitchen, I didn't like the coffee from the coffee machine. I only had one and didn't like the taste. I know each to their own etc but I prefer a kettle with a jar of coffee to make my own as it tastes better to me. The main thing that annoyed me slightly was the attitude of one of the younger members of the staff. I think she could benefit from some tourism training. She seemed to get annoyed when I was trying to give feedback in broken Spanish and I found her a bit rude. It's quite normal to give feedback where I am from. All of the other staff members were professional and friendly which is the way it should be. She seemed to still be annoyed when I went back to collect my small backpack on the last day and I asked if I could use the toilet as I was on the way to the bus stop. She answered "as long as you are quick". No need for a response like that as I was hardly going to spend an hour walking around there. I think she just needs some refresher training.
Muxia Mare met my expectations. The host was very nice
Liked: Comfortable
Disliked: All was good
A nice place to stay the night
Liked: There were only 5 bunkbeds in the room, with two bunks per cubby area. The beds had curtains. A towel and two sheets were provided. The showers were ok; no room to change. The kitchen/common area was small but stocked with everything you needed to cook. The location was great for watching the sunset; the beach was right across the road.
