Misinformation and tired accommodation
Liked: The location is great for exploring the surrounding area. The cleanliness was ok. The kids enjoyed the playground. Owner was quick to reply via WhatsApp and sent information about the local area
Disliked: We arrived at 5pm and were initially surprised that there were no staff on site. We actually didn't see the owner at all during our stay. When we got to our cabaña we were even more surprised to find that one of the three bedrooms had been padlocked shut! We contacted the owner to ask what was going on and he explained that if less than 6 people book the three bedroom house then they shut off rooms. I have travelled extensively and I have never come across this before. Each room had a padlock on it (see photo). The owner did reply to us quickly and had someone come down to open the third bedroom for us but this is something that people need to be aware of because it is very unusual and no where on booking.com does it say that this is their policy. We booked a three bedroom house and we therefore expected to have a three bedroom house. The second issue we had was that one of our criteria when booking accommodation for our trip was that the property had a pool which our kids could use. The information on booking.com confirmed the pool would be open (we arrived 3rd September) but when we arrived, the pool too was all locked up. When questioned, the owner explained that no one had been using the pool (he felt because it was too cold) and so they had closed it early. We did explain to him that this was a deciding factor for us and if we had known the pool would have been shut then we would have chosen another accomodation in the area. He apologised but nothing more. If you are going to close the pool earlier than stated on the booking website then guests should be informed prior to arrival otherwise you are advertising something which is incorrect. The cabañas are pretty tired and dated - front door hinge broken making opening and closing difficult, bedroom and bathroom doors dragged along the floor making an awful noise, one of the hooks was missing from coat hook, old kitchen utensils....
