Exceptional
Two night stay before getting ferry from Bilbao (90 minutes away)
Liked: Relaxing hotel within walking distance of town and beaches. Lovely ambiance
Disliked: Nothing
Liked: We loved it so much! Poor us! We booked only one night and regret not to have spent more days there. One of the great memory from our trip between Stuttgart and Lissabon. Thérèse and her Family are amazing. A lovely family, a wonderful region (Bierzo), an excellent kitchen (a must: plan your lunch at La Tronera!). Don’t hesitate!
A quiet hotel on the edge of town run by the owners and family with love and dedication
Liked: The restaurant was absolutely first class, the food was wonderful and the service very good. Liked the quiet location and easy access to the forest behind. The bed was very comfortable. Excellent wine and food tasting experience.
Disliked: Perhaps the excellent wine and food tasting experience could have been served at a slower pace which would have given more time to appreciate the wonderful food and wine. We felt a little rushed. There was no facility to make a drink, no water or beverage of any sort was available in the room. This was inconvenient as there is no bar in the hotel and the reception is not manned full time, although the owner is available at all time via phone.
A lovely, rural stay in El Bierzo
Liked: It’s exactly what you’d want from a rural stay: local and authentic, rustic but comfortable, and near the small towns, surrounding wineries, and beautiful nature. The room was spacious, there was heating (definitely needed it in the freezing winter), the bathtub was nice, and Teresa was very friendly and gave us lots of great information about the area.
Disliked: For the price it’d be nice if breakfast were included but we paid for it one morning and it was lovely (fresh, local products). I’d suggest putting a kettle and/or coffee machine in the room for the comfort of guests
Amazing stay!
Liked: The hospitality of Teresa! She provided us with good recommendations during our stay and for the rest of our trip. We loved the talks about gastronomy ☺️. The room was nice, clean and had everything we needed. Parking was also very easy. We will definitely be back someday to try the restaurant as well!
