  Felt like jail more than a hostel

  Disliked: My experience at Hostel20 Wilson in Toulouse was absolutely disappointing. Room 36 felt more like a cell for inmates than accommodation intended for paying guests. The room was in a disgraceful state. The carpet was heavily stained, dirty and torn away in several places, exposing the floor underneath. The walls were damaged, there were visible signs of moisture and dampness, and an extremely unpleasant smell filled the room. The layout was equally disappointing. The toilet was located right next to the beds, offering very little sense of privacy or comfort. The view from the window was horrible, overlooking rooftops and equipment. The whole environment felt depressing and neglected. As if that weren't enough, several lights were not functioning, and the Wi-Fi was unavailable on the third floor, where my room was located. When I complained to the receptionist about the room's condition, he acted surprised, as though he had never heard of these problems. Given how obvious and extensive the damage was, I found his reaction difficult to believe. I also overheard the same receptionist making derogatory remarks about people from Marrakech. As someone from Marrakech myself, I found this particularly offensive and completely inappropriate for someone working in hospitality. (He's Moroccan) I have photographs documenting the condition of the room. I have stayed in budget accommodation before, and I understand perfectly well that a hostel is not a luxury hotel. But there is a huge difference between basic accommodation and accommodation that feels neglected, poorly maintained and uncomfortable. Room 36 was simply unacceptable. Paying guests deserve cleanliness, functioning facilities, a reasonable level of comfort and respectful treatment. My advice to future guests: think carefully before booking, and especially before accepting Room 36. I certainly would not stay here again.

  Nice hostel with convenient location for sight seeing

  Liked: Staff/ volunteers are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a decent amount of food for a reasonable price. The location is near the train and convenient for exploring the city. There are restaurants close, in addition to public transportation.

  Disliked: The room appeared to be partially serviced, with dirty and missing towels. (This was quickly rectified by the check-in desk)

  Comfortable for a short stay

  Liked: I liked the bedding, the pillow and blanket were very comfortable.

  Very basic room and noise issues

  Liked: Great location

  Disliked: For the price, the room was old, not clean or well maintained. The mattress and pillows were poor quality. There was loud noise from aircon unit outside the window and lots of noise from the street (the windows were old, no proper insulation). There was no kettle or cups/glasses in the room. There was no hot water for a shower (I only stayed one night and I had to leave very early in the morning so I didn’t bring it up with the team as I had to leave by the time I figured out).
