Capitole and centre
Around Place du Capitole and Place Wilson there are hotels of every category, many in restored brick buildings. Saint-Sernin, the Jacobins and the shopping streets are within walking distance, and the metro gets you around the city.
Carmes and Saint-Étienne
South of the centre, the Carmes quarter has a market, restaurants and small, charming hotels. Around Saint-Étienne cathedral the streets are grander and quieter, with mansions and antique shops, a few minutes from the Garonne.
Saint-Cyprien
On the left bank of the Garonne, past the Pont Neuf, there are apartments and simple hotels in a district with local life. It has a covered market, terraces and riverside gardens, and the centre is a quarter of an hour’s walk.
Matabiau and the Canal du Midi
Near Matabiau station and along the Canal du Midi there are plenty of chain and moderately priced hotels. It is the practical option if you arrive by train or are making day trips, with the metro direct to the Capitole in a few minutes.
