  Much smaller than advertised - maybe good for one night if you are looking for something different

  Liked: The accommodation is MUCH smaller than advertised!! They are including the top deck which is completely exposed and not usable in poor weather. The view from the front of the boat is a wall with a busy public walkway and a parking lot behind it. The breakfast was good though and the staff do a good job of keeping it clean.

  Disliked: The official photos are misleading and that was disappointing. The houseboats (about 12) are pontooned together along a wall at the far end of the marina with about 30cm between each boat. There is a busy walkway on the other side of the marina wall (maybe 9m away) and of course everyone walking along is looking at the people on the boats. Facing the other direction, you have a view of the harbour as well as a parking lot for campers/RVs. The interior is so small, every move becomes strategic. Luckily we only had carry on luggage - I'm not sure what you would do if you have big suitcases. I get the concept and maybe on the bigger boats it works better, but I would avoid the bunk bed option. We had a pull out couch but that was really only a large single, not a double bed. Our other complaint was the lack of black out curtains. Marinas tend to be well lit and this one was extremely so. The flimsy curtains looked nice but didn't block out any light. We felt exposed at night even with the curtains closed. We booked 4 nights here as a base for our trip and that was way too long!

  Unique houseboat stay in the marina

  Liked: Staying on a houseboat is a unique experience. They are new and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is plentiful and there is a well equipped kitchen area. There are lots of places on the boat to recline and repose or sit and chat to the neighbours. Mostly the staff are helpful and friendly. I shall have fond memories of our time in Cagliari.

  Disliked: It took us a while to get to grips with the online checking in and deposit and tax paying process. When we were shown to our boat we found, although well appointed it was more compact than expected. It was a mile or so to walk into town or the beach but we paid 12 Euros for a bus ticket that lasted a week and got around ok.

  I wish we had stayed there longer than one night

  Liked: I enjoyed the unique location and sleeping on the water in the marina. The bed was very comfortable. We chose the 2 bedroom boat for more space and it was a good choice for 2 larger American sized people. Sharing a double bed would have been less comfortable so we each had a bedroom.

  Disliked: The marina is a little far to walk to the castello district.

  Liked: It was Quirky, something different and beautifully maintained, was very clean, And had pleasant reception staff next door in the day time, and cleaning staff that obviously worked extremely hard.

  Unique stay on boats in Cagliari

  Liked: Interesting experience to spend a night upon our arrival in Cagliari on two boats docked next to each other in the marina. The boats were well equipped and air-conditioned, with rooftop terraces and seating areas. A tasty breakfast was delivered to our boats at the time agreed upon at check-in. Free parking is available next to the marina, although it was quite packed in the evening.
