    One night at Casa Morgana

Liked: Polite staff, great location, very tasty breakfast with waiters to take your order. Bed was extremely comfortable and the room was huge. The hotel looked a little tired and dated. Considering what I paid for one night and the 5 star rating, I was a little disappointed. For example, we followed the sign for the gym from our room in the morning. The path appeared to be blocked off by a plant pot and we had to go through a gate to get there. Maybe it's just my expectations, but it is very expensive for the overall experience.

Liked: Our stay was amazing. This hotel is beautiful and the view is stunning. It was our anniversary and they upgraded our room to a sea view suite. It was stunning. The staff is always available and extremely helpful and accommodating. We loved our stay and would highly recommend a stay here. You will love it!

    Absurd non-functioning vanity

Liked: I arrived at the hotel full of optimism. Capri is so beautiful, and I hoped to have a perfect stay. I was, sadly, VERY disappointed. This is a vain, try-hard, silly hotel. You absolutely know that everything’s been done for an Instagram generation. All about the looks, rather than comfort or practicality. All the fixtures and fittings are really cheap. The rooms are bare, presumably to look cool, but are in fact just uncomfortable. I arrived from a similarly pricey hotel (and Casa Morgano is very expensive). In that previous hotel, the breakfast buffet was weighed-down with fresh fruit, gorgeous fresh pastries, and selections of tempting treats. At this hotel, there were, on my and my wife’s fruit plate: 2 slices of pineapple; 2 strawberries; and 2 bits of dry melon. Because there were 2 of us. And two dry slices of white bread, two dry slices of brown bread; and 2 stale croissants. All prepared the night before. It’s truly the worst example of penny-pinching, it’s pathetic really. At our last meal, we ordered crab and avocado as a starter (€42). The avocado was so unripe as to be inedible. When I pointed this out, the extremely lovely and professional old-school waiter apologised, and said that was all that they’d got from the market that day. So we moved on to our main course(pasta, quite good). When we got the bill, there was the €42 for the crab and avocado. I pointed this out to the waiter, who apologised, and took the bill away. I got it back with €4 reduction (yes, €4!) - the guy in charge said that the avocado was €4, and the crab €38, and I hadn’t complained about the crab. It was literally laughable. Turns out that the “guy in charge” - Andrea - is actually an owner of the hotel. I think what’s happened is that Casa Morgano has merged with the bigger and more established Scalinatella next door, with young inexperienced owners who are now struggling. And scrabbling to cut corners wherever they can, at the expense of their guests. A shame. I won’t be going back! And neither should anyone else.
