Where to stay in Capri: the best areas
Capri town
Around the Piazzetta are the most elegant hotels and villas with gardens, among shops and restaurants. The Gardens of Augustus and the walks to Villa Jovis and the Arco Naturale are on foot.
Anacapri
In the upper part of the island, Anacapri has guesthouses, family-run hotels and apartments in a quieter setting. Villa San Michele and the chairlift up Monte Solaro are nearby, and there are buses to the Blue Grotto.
Marina Grande
By the harbour there are practical hotels and apartments for arriving and leaving by boat. The funicular climbs to the Piazzetta in a few minutes and there is a pebble beach next door.
Marina Piccola
On the south coast, between the sea and Via Krupp, there are few places to stay, but they are very close to the bathing establishments and look out on the sea stacks. You go up to the centre by bus.
