Fabulous
Liked: The communication was good, the apartment was clean and big and the location is really at the heart of the city.
Disliked: Very noisy. Only one card to open the door available for a group of 4 people.
Very pleasant stay
Liked: The location is excellent! The building is old and nice! The rooms are with high ceiling. There are air-conditioners. The bedrooms are comfortable. There is outside nice pastry shop with excellent machiatto
Disliked: The key to the apartment is the power switch key, so there is no option for leaving the air-conditioner working. The key is only one given. There is no view at all. There are some windows but they are faced to a small back yard, where we could smell the smell from the kitchen of the restaurants.
Great location, but would not return
Liked: This is an apartment in a large building. Looks like it was a magestic space decades ago that was divided up and converted to smaller apartments. We had 2 rooms, one with a queen bed and a second that's a family room with an Ikea sofa that's seen better days (pull out sofa) and kitchen/kitchen table. The bathroom was large and had a small balcony where we could hang clothes. Great view to the street for people watching. Elevator worked! Yay!
Disliked: I have rented a dozen apartments in Italy over the past 3 years and this one is in the category of: "photos feel like glamor shots." The actual property is worn, scratched, a little mis-matched. The description is not dishonest, but I am sharing this to manage expectations. You have exactly what you need (one pillow each), and the AC worked pretty well, but it certainly was not comfortable. If you use the sofa as a bed (which is probably okay for very young kids, otherwise, not a good night's sleep) then there is no place to sit aside from at the kitchen table. I wanted a blanket and searched in the armoire to find what appeared to be a slipcover for an old sofa. Felt like I was camping. There's an "unfresh" / "smoky" smell to the apartment, and the washing machine smells when you open the door. Great value and location, but it's a bit gritty, like the city overall. I'd keep looking...
Well located, comfortable and beutiful place
Liked: Very nice ancient building, spacious and with all the necessary comforts. Location is excellent walking distance from all touristic areas and transport. The host (Francesca) was super nice and helpful in guiding us through the city and tips for food and visits. She went the extra mile - thank you
Disliked: Property is great and well located in lively (restaurants and people)
Liked: Host, location, space, rooms, balcony, brightness.
Disliked: It was only 1 big sheet on the double beds instead of two normal size sheets. Not a big deal but we didn't use to it.
A great appartment. Just wish it was warmer
Liked: The apartment is at the centre of Catania's old town within a walking distance of major sightseeing attractions. Airport and bus station are also close. Francesca has been incredibly quick with her responses whenever something was unclear. Also worth noting that she gives a file with recommendations on how navigate Catania as a tourist which makes life there at least in the first few days much easier.
Disliked: We stayed there in January so apartment was quite cold. The heating which consist of two air conditioners installed in each rooms was lacking. Especially when one of them in the bedroom was broken. So word of advice bring your thermo layers and warm socks or slippers if you plan to rent this apartment in winter.
