Exceptional
Uncomfortable, noisy, awful breakfast
Liked: pretty much nothing
Disliked: I don't get how this place got such a rating. It is kind of really really basic and unremarkable to start. Yeah, it is cheap I suppose, but you really feel it with the uncomfortable beds, smelly bathrooms, "breakfast" (a basket of bread basically, and that is it) serviced on plastic plates. But worst of all - the location. It stand on the really really really busy cross road and this being italy - windows are useless when it comes to soundproof. So zero sleep is pretty much guaranteed because of car/bikes noise outside.

Liked: Excellent location. Relatively easy street paid parking. Clean room and OK breakfast.
Disliked: No WiFi reception in our room, and air conditioning was mediocre at the best.

Disliked: It was a nightmare to find a parking spot near the apartments. We went 3 circles around the block for almost 20-30 minutes and found one parking spot just by luck. Also THERE WAS NO BREAKFAST. There was absolutely no staff during our stay. I understand that we arrived late, but there was no staff in the morning and they did not organize breakfast. We felt scammed. We payed money and got only a bed.

Nice hotel for a short stay with kids
Liked: We have spent few days in Mavá at the end of March, so outside the main tourist season. Mavá is a small boutique hotel (4 rooms or so) located in a 2-floor building. The whole building seems to be only small hotels or rental apartments. At the ground floor there is a reception and a dining room for all guests. The personnel were super friendly and welcomed us with a smile every morning. I liked our quadruple room with comfortable beds, lots of towels and daily cleaning. From our balcony we could see a part of Etna. The location of this hotel is great for families with smaller kids - there is a direct connection from the airport with Alibus, a beautiful park with a nice playground around the corner and it is close to the old town. There is a common room with a small kitchen corner, sofa and TV. I enjoyed breakfast with freshly brewed coffee and croissants very much. There could be more healthy options such as fresh veggies or sugar free yoghurt for kids. On the other hand some of the hotels facilities such as the bathroom and kitchen need renovation. The dishwasher in the common room was not emptied by anyone so the dishes from previous guests were still there. Not sure what was the dishwasher policy there but we used to wash our dishes per hand then. Our room was on a corner of a loud street, it was quite loud till ca 11 PM and from 6 am. Apparently I was the only family member who could not sleep well because of the traffic noise, so it is probably an individual thing.
