Liked: 10/10 Stay at Hotel Traiano – Don’t Pass This Hotel Up! We had an excellent stay at Hotel Traiano in Civitavecchia, Italy, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the area, especially those getting ready to take a cruise! We arrived from the U.S. on an overnight flight, and the front desk manager was kind enough to get us into our room before the 1:00 p.m. check-in time. After a long flight, that made a huge difference! He was also extremely helpful with directions to the city square, just a few blocks away and about a 15–20 minute walk. He even provided us with a map and highlighted the route, which we really appreciated. We also booked our transfers from Fiumicino Airport (FCO) to the hotel and then from the hotel to the cruise pier directly through the hotel. Everything went off without a hitch! It made our arrival and cruise departure so much easier and gave us peace of mind knowing everything was arranged. The hot water in the shower was perfect, and the continental breakfast was excellent. Every member of the hotel staff we encountered during our stay was equally accommodating, friendly, and helpful. We give Hotel Traiano a 10 out of 10! If you're staying in Civitavecchia before or after a cruise, don't pass this hotel up. Great service, a comfortable stay, an excellent breakfast, and dependable transfers made this a perfect start to our Italian vacation. We would gladly stay here again! Dave B.

Good Option For A Basic Hotel Before A Cruise
Liked: We’ve stayed at the Hotel Traiano four times over the years when we’ve had cruises from Civitavecchia. This time, we stayed for two nights to make sure we wouldn’t miss the ship’s departure. We pre-booked a private transfer in a van from the FCO airport through them for 130 Euros for the two of us. If you have a larger group, it’s cheaper pp. We also booked a transfer to the cruise terminal for 5 Euro pp. They don’t charge for this before you are actually picked up which is more than fair. It’s a basic family-run place in a residential neighborhood on a hill about a 20-minute walk down to the waterfront. The elevator is very large for a small hotel as you can get two people with all of their luggage into it. We had a room with a small balcony. The decor and furnishings are a bit dated, but the room was clean. There’s a small fridge and a kettle for making tea and if you want coffee, the machine in the breakfast room is available. The Zodiac Pizza place is a short walk away where they sell different types by the gram. You tell them how big a piece you want and they cut it with scissors before reheating it. We brought ours back to the room to eat later. A little further down is the META grocery store where you can get wine, beer and snacks. There are not many restaurants nearby so they offer a free shuttle to the Borge del Mar Hotel at dinner time. We went there on a van with three other couples which took about 15 minutes each way. Most of the guests were from other hotels plus some locals. The food was OK and reasonably priced, There are other places down at the harbor. The breakfast is included and you can reserve your time at the top of the hour which helps with spreading out the guests. There’s lot of pastry options and they were all very good. It’s not fancy, but it’s more than adequate to start your day. The front desk staff were helpful with all of our arrangements and the accommodations were fine for our needs. We’d recommend it.
Disliked: The mattress was a little softer than we’re used to, but it was OK.
