  Wonderful - would stay here again and probably will!

  Liked: The rooms were clean, modern and had everything you needed. The pool areas were lovely, the food was very good and the staff were all - without exception - very kind and helpful. Deserving particular mention were Frederico and Rowena - whose customer care, kindness and professionalism were superb and also the members of staff like Manuela who organised the safe return of an item we left at the hotel. The only criticism would be that the main restaurant lacked atmosphere in its decor but if that were fixed it would be perfect. We also had a hire car and we recommend that when staying here as the hotel is located quite far up the hill from Garda itself. The upside is the lovely views down over Lake Garda as well as far less Mosquitos because you are higher up.

  Disliked: The lack of atmosphere / decor in the main restaurant but lovely food and great staff compensated.

  Relaxed well situated hotel

  Liked: Located a 5 minute drive from Garda town, very convenient. Beautiful view from the reception area, the pools, the restaurant terrace and room balcony. Plenty of sun lounges and umbrellas by the pool, though the lounges are not very comfortable. The heated pool was of very comfortable temperature to swim in. Very nice and helpful staff. Good bathroom amenities. Nice light lunches, not too expensive.

  Disliked: The bed in the room is very hard. Even after the topper was placed on our request, my husband kept having back pains. The bathroom is much smaller than it looks on the pictures and the shower is relatively small. The airconditioning unit is noisy and doesn’t cool sufficiently. Rooms are not soundproof, we could easily hear neighbors taking a shower or using a toilet. The noise from the hall is even worse. We dined in a restaurant once and found the quality of food underwhelming and overpriced. Porcini and truffle pasta was overcooked and I couldn’t discover any pieces of mushrooms and porcini in it.

  Wonderful hotel

  Liked: We stayed at Hotel Madrigale for four nights and had a truly wonderful experience. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with excellent facilities and warm, friendly staff. There are two lovely pools, with plenty of sun loungers for everyone, surrounded by beautiful plants and greenery. We were also very kindly upgraded to the Tower Suite, which was fantastic and offered an exquisite view over Lake Garda. We are incredibly grateful for this generous upgrade. The only disappointment was our experience at lunch. My €17 lasagne was so small that it left me barely half full, and nothing was served with it. I asked the waiter whether I could have a little more lasagne or perhaps something else on the side. The waiter genuinely tried to help, but the chef refused. We felt that the chef could have shown considerably better hospitality and service towards hotel guests. Apart from this one experience, our stay was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful hotel.

  Great but felt constrained

  Liked: Fantastic views and facilities. Staff were sublime - very friendly and got to know their guests well. Beautifully clean and fresh pool towels daily. 2 great bistros in the village worth visiting

  Disliked: Taxis and the shuttle constraints were a big issue. This made the stay less relaxing as you had to work to a time table which meant a very rigid itinerary for getting up and down to the lake and no later shuttle for evening beyond 5:30. Taxis were non-existent on several nights and no way of even walking back.
