Mediocre hotel facilities, socially awkard hotel manager, nice pool area
Liked: The hotel is away from the city centre. In a quiet residential street. It has a lovely pool area, which sadly I didn't get to use. The actual hotel lobby, althought done up nicely, doesn't give an indication that it is a 'hotel' so it was a little confusing.
Disliked: Hotel manager a socially awkard. He made unneccesary comments about my fitness level after I took a run in the morning and it made me uncomfortable so left early. I don't go to hotels to be judged or have my physical attributes commented on! I understand the manager was trying to be "funny" but It is completely unneccessary and we are far into the 21st Century now for a man to judge a woman, let alone a 'professional' hotel manager towards a guest. Additionally, the room had too many small issues, old, fusty, broken lights and bidet, which when mentioned to the hotel manager, he brushed off. I was placed in a darl room above the swimming pool filter which was noisy.
Family-run hotel with fresh baked breakfast very close to Gubbio
Liked: Wonderful, welcoming staff. This is a family-run hotel and the owner and staff make you feel at home. There's the smell of fresh pastries baking every morning. You're greeted with a smile and an excellent cappuccino and homemade breakfast. The hotel is kept very clean and the grounds are beautiful. I would definitely recommend requesting one of the remodeled rooms. Our room was older with a bathroom in dire need of remodeling and an AC that had to be turned on by the reception desk.
Disliked: The only problem we had was that the AC and heater has to be turned on and off at the reception desk and is very difficult to operate. Opening the window is not an option because there are no fly screens. The only other thing was that our bathroom was tiny and many of the shower tiles were broken.
