Fabulous
Wonderful, authentic stay in an old building, that’s very tastefully renovated
Liked: I loved the decor of the room. The bathroom was also very nicely done. It could have been tacky trying to appeal to the tourist looking for an authentic experience but it was not. It was exactly as advertised. I felt safe and comfortable. It was easy to reach all parts of the historic district. Host let me store my luggage before checking and after check out so I could walk around without dragging my luggage.
Disliked: The location is in the centre of things so you do get the outside noise, especially if you like windows open. The town of Lucca was preparing for their big annual Halloween event, so lots of construction going on. Construction noises went on till 7 pm. It was not the fault of the accommodation, but just be aware that you are in the centre of things, which is what I wanted, so I put up with the noises for the night. The windows shades do keep out lots of noise when closed.

Great place for a short break in a beautiful and peaceful city
Liked: Instructions for access were sent well in advance. I never actually met the staff but it didn’t matter. They were happy for me to leave the city tax on departure. The place is great, quirky but full of character. Very comfortable bed and well equipped room. Sure the bathroom is bijou, but I am large and it was no problem at all. Plenty of hot water and good pressure. The location is excellent. Set in a quiet alley right in the centre of the old walled city. A real find and I would definitely stay here again.
Disliked: Nothing at all. There is no fresh breakfast but that is made clear beforehand and there are plenty of places close by for coffee and pastries.
Great location, characterful rooms and excellent communication from hosts
Liked: The rooms had lots of character, we loved the beamed ceilings and medieval theme. The location is amazing, very central with brilliant cafes and restaurants only steps away. And we appreciated the drinks and snacks table the staff kindly arrange for guests.

Fine unless your air conditioning breaks in August and no one is there to fix it
Liked: Nice location in the centre of Lucca. I liked the 'medieval' theme of the room, some fun decoration touches. Good shower and would have been a very pleasant stay if the air conditioning hadn't broken halfway through the second night.
Disliked: There are no staff at this hotel, it is just six or seven bedrooms with a key you collect when you arrive. Which would have been fine if everything had gone smoothly but during my second night the air conditioning stopped working and I woke up at 2.30am too hot to go back to sleep. When I called the number provided by the hotel to ask about the air conditioning I got an angry guy asking me why I was calling at that time in the morning. As I pointed out, it's a hotel and my air conditioning isn't working so that's why. He said he would come and fix it in the morning, which was useless to me. I messaged the hotel through the booking app to tell them this and have received no apology or offer of a refund, so overall a very disappointing experience.
