  Beautiful, charming, and fun — book without hesitation

  Liked: Perfect location, extremely quaint and comfortable room, great, friendly service. Spa was a fun bonus.

  Liked: Located in the sassi, so very authentic hotel; clean, lots of character, great breakfast, very cool pool and hot tub in spa (additional fee), wonderful accommodating staff

  Disliked: Location can be challenging if you have trouble walking....lots of stairs and inclines / declines. Would have liked a kettle in our room. Shuttles should be arranged prior to arriving as it's a good distance, with lots of stairs to carry luggage from parking lot. Parking should be arranged prior to arrival as well

  Hotel and spa amazing! Wonderful staff in such a historic place!

  Liked: Amazing views of the historic city! Breakfast is unbelievable!

  Disliked: Be aware that if you are off site as we were in room 38 that you will have a bit of a walk from the main hotel.

  Liked: The property felt historic and the hotel did a great job keeping to the building’s history with the interior design. The room we stayed in felt well furnished and the bed was very comfortable. The view of the city was beautiful at night and despite being in the center of town, it felt very peaceful in the evening. The thermal spa was relaxing and 90 minutes felt like a perfect amount of time to enjoy it. The hotel also held our bags in the morning after checkout so that we could walk around Matera before leaving.

  Disliked: The drain in the shower was slow. It may just be an old building, or it could use a little maintenance. Otherwise, everything was great!
