Fabulous
Liked: Excellent location, lovely staff, tidy premises. Close to the beach; rooms are spacious and comfortable. The greatest value of this establishment lies in its historical heritage and its employees.
Disliked: It is chilly in the dining room during the winter months. Upon our complaint, the staff immediately made an effort to rectify the situation with a portable heater, but the overall impression is that it is too cold in the space.

Exceptional
Liked: Another exceptional stay at Hotel Excelsior, this time for my birthday weekend. The staff on site were amazing, brought me a birthday treat. The site is beautiful as always. Pleasantly upgraded to a sea view room this time which was great. Truly wonderful stay, wish it was longer. Hopefully see you again soon.
Disliked: A little flexibility with their cancellation policy as I wanted to stay for two nights. Otherwise, nothing bad to say.
A Luxury hotel at half the price or less of other venetian luxury hotels
Liked: Breakfast is a huge choice buffet. Wonderful. I also enjoyed the thick wall to wall carpeting. The free boat shuttle from the hotel to the piazza. San marco is a wonderful free ride in a luxurious Venetian wooden boat. It's available twice every hour and half hour.
Disliked: The background music in the main lounge was a bit too loud, but i didn't spend much time in that lounge. I'm sure the hotel management would have turned the sound down enough if I had asked, but it was not worth the trouble for me.
