A charming hotel in a fabulous location, offering comfort, character and a truly authentic Venetian
Liked: We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Gardena! It's a beautiful hotel in a historic Venetian building, with gorgeous décor and so much character. Our room was lovely, the bed incredibly comfortable, and we were lucky enough to overlook a picturesque little canal. It really added to the Venetian experience! Breakfast was fantastic, with a great selection of food, including eggs, and plenty of choice to start the day. The location was fabulous! The Grand Canal was just a few steps away, and there were some wonderful restaurants nearby. But we loved the neighbourhood itself most. Just around the corner, we found quieter, authentic Venetian streets, charming little bars and beautiful canals without all the crowds and touristy shops. It was lovely to wander around and feel like we were experiencing the real Venice. Hotel Gardena was everything we hoped for: comfortable, charming and in a wonderful location. We'd definitely stay here again!

Disliked: Not handicap friendly. They say hotel is too old to make mobility friendly for customers
Nice but with a flaw
Liked: Hotel is situated in a convenient location across the Grand Canal from the railway station and waterbus docks. Many restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. Rooms are small but comfortable. A nice continental breakfast was included in the price.
Disliked: The heating. The room was too hot for us. There is no individual controls for the rooms. The staff told us they had just switched off the aircon for the season and had turned on the heating. They told us how to turn off the heating to our room but it still warmed up and the only way to cool it down was to open the windows which definitely helped. However that allowed mosquitoes in.
