Liked: Very helpful staff, spacious room, good breakfast. The hotel is located in the main attraction of the town, the back side of the Alcabaca monastery with views to the inner cloister.

Beautiful hotel inside and out; staff, room and breakfast superb

Liked: Breakfast was really great, so relaxed and everything that was available was of high quality. Room was beautifully specced and very comfortable. Pool was also a great space to relax in. 20 minute drive from Nazare which was a lovely place and so many restaurant choices.

Disliked: Nothing, no complaints at all.

Come to Alcobaca and stay in this hotel!

Liked: We stayed one night on our drive from Lisbon up to Porto. We wanted to break up the long drive and we are so glad we did. We loved Alcobaca! The hotel is right next to the monastery. Just walk out the door and there it is. We also loved the indoor pool and sauna. The room was large and the bed extra large. The AC worked very well and breakfast was very nice with many options.

Disliked: Nothing really. It was great for our overnight stay.

  Overall it was very good

Liked: Friendly staff with great restaurant suggestions.

Disliked: Some groundwork is being done next to the hotel during our stay. It was not pretty to look at from the breakfast room windows. Bulldozers and backhoes with piles of dirt. However, when it is finished, I trust it will be as beautiful as the rest of the hotel. The hotel's courtyard is a square patch of dirt lined with trees. No one was ever out there. What a missed opportunity to create a beautiful setting with grass or a stone patio, maybe a water feature, and a place for evening gatherings, drinks, dining outside, or listening to musicians.

  A most unique hotel!

Liked: A very unique property in a beautiful and historic setting. The building has been refurbished but the sense of purpose that it was originally built for still remains. The lightness and airiness of the hallways seems to instill a quietness despite the soaring ceilings. The room was very comfortable with a big bathroom. All the staff were very attentive and helpful.

Disliked: I felt the breakfast was lacking. While it looked impressive, the hot food was barely warm and the breads and a pastry I had were rather stale. I would have expected better food from a 5 star hotel.

  Disappointing

  Liked: The historical site

Disliked: It feels inhospitable. It’s closer to a 4 star. I did not feel it was a luxury 5 star hotel
