    Peaceful on the lagoon

Liked: Lovely and peaceful, flamingos in the next lagoon. excellent restaurant v close by. Good breakfast brought to our houseboat.

Disliked: There is no signage for Barcos Casa Aviero. Look for MARINHA DE NOEIRINHA. The welcome 2 coffee capsules and water bottle arent a daily supply.

A relaxing stay in an interesting environment

Liked: We chose this property for a relaxing break. We had spent a couple of weeks touring Spain and Portugal and needed a rest from sightseeing and driving. The place was tricky to find, Google Maps sent us to a motorhome park but it's down a nearby unnamed road. On arrival the staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. They told us about the salt spa and the beach but also asked for 150 Euros deposit (which I don't remember being mentioned on Booking.com). The good thing was free parking. We were shown our boat house which had a bottle of wine, a litre of water and a couple of coffee sachets & pods, which was a nice welcome. The location of the units is good. Only a few minutes walk from Aveiro centre where there were boat rides, shops, restaurants etc. The walk back at night is unlit as you walk out of the centre but the resort is well lit. They bring a basket of breakfast around 9am each morning, which has eggs, milk, coffee, bread, jams, meat. cheese - enough food to make breakfast and lunch. It was nice to look out of the boat house and watch the fish and ducks in the water. Unfortunately for us we only had one day of nice weather with torrential rain and winds the next so didn't get round to using the beach, or salt spa. There was also a stand alone wagon with a sauna in, but we didn't use that either. Not sure if there is a café or restaurant in high season but there was nothing like that when we went (late September), only a vending machine and a few ice creams for sale in the shop on site. We had good secure Wi-Fi reception and the TV had a YouTube Channel, which was useful on the rainy day. There was air conditioning in the living/kitchen area and slightly opening windows in the bedroom and bathroom.

Disliked: As others have commented - the units are in need of refurbishment. Ours had a damaged lock, a hole in the ceiling, and the fridge was stained. The access door to the roof terrace was so stiff that I couldn't open it, my husband did manage to but even he said it was hard to do. There was a smell from the shower if you used the hose attachment but okay if using the overhead one. The other thing was that although they say it's a 2 bedroom house, the second bedroom was locked. We didn't need to use it but it would have been nice to have access to it to put our bags in and use as a dressing room. Maybe if you want to use it you have to ask?

    Super cute stay in Aveiro

Liked: We only stayed one night - very nice break in our trip with wahoo effect - great facilities and service.

Disliked: No lights at night around the facilities - a bit dangerous when walking back at night from city center. A bit more admin heavy comparing to other hotels - as in, asked lots of details for all guests and a deposit.

Shouted at and accused by the rude owner

Disliked: One of the strangest experiences of my life. There was an issue with the reservation because the ages of the kids didn’t save. Instead of politely talking about it and trying to find a solution, the owner decided to shout at me on the phone, interrupting me constantly when I was trying to talk and accusing me of doing it on purpose to save money. It turned out it was a booking bug so not my fault at all but the owner when told this, just continued to be rude. We didn’t stay there in the end because I didn’t want to put my family (travelling with two small children) in that environment. Looking at the other reviews though, I’m not the only one he has been like that with and the place sounds horrible so maybe we dodged a bullet. I’m sure I will get a defensive comment from the owner here because these people can never look at their own behaviour. But the truth is that these people shouldn’t be working with the public. Avoid at all costs if you don’t want your holiday ruined!

Liked: The breakfast basket was great! The location to the town.

Disliked: The trip from the car park to the boat hut, the lake was small and unkempt, it states swimming pool but there is only the lake. Which is full of plantation fine if that’s your thing. It is over priced for what it is. I wouldn’t stay stay more than a night or two.
